Bargee, my take is that diskman was worried that if she came her year round, she wouldn't have enough to do -- that things shut down during the summer months (which does happen at some retirement communities). I really don't think this was a slam at snowbirds at all -- just that they wouldn't have the information needed. Heck, I was hesitant to respond because I'm single.

Nothing against snow birds sorry many of you have mistaken what I wrote!

My question was aimed at year round residents because, that is what I will be. Also it was not directed at summertime activities, it's a 12 month question.
Weekdays we assume are filled with sports & club activities. So my husband and I were curious about weekend days and nights.

I guess the thought of retirement and oh my god how will we stay busy crossed our minds. Since we are a couple that is who we were talking to.

Bev, the problem here isn't how to stay busy, it is how to find time to just do nothing. I used to read 5 books a week and still lead a fairly active life. Now, I'm lucky if I read a book or two a week.

If typical, you'll do some things as a couple and you'll go your own way for some interests. There are less club meetings on weekends but there is usually something going on in the squares like car shows, golf cart shows, art shows, craft shows, etc. On Saturday, there is a bbq cookoff at the Polo Grounds.

So, don't even worry about not being busy. You'll be as busy as you want to be.

All we TOTVers ask is that you join us once in awhile at Crispers.

Not for us!! We are not retired, but are self employed and make the time to enjoy things. Not everyone can or will retire. :(

we go bowling, go to Market of Marion, do other chores.
Sundays we go to church, watch the golf tourneys on tv and sometimes we play in a golf scramble with our neighborhood.
We love being here all year.
