Thanks for all the links.
This day is so emotion provoking as so many knew they would die that day but put country first and the future of their children. The suffering that day and those that followed are even hard to imagine. Those folks need to be remembered and thanked so much every day for the sacrifice they offered for US. Truly, the GREATEST generation.

So admire every one of these heroes that contributed during WWII.
I simply cannot watch the first 25 minutes of Saving Private Ryan anymore. Too horrific and realistic as to what those brave souls went thru for our freedom. Not many of them left, and they deserve every bit of our praise. IMO unfortunately our 'youths' generally do not know what sacrifice that Generation endured for us.

My Dad was a Sergeant in the 110th Artillery of the 29th Infantry Division that landed on Omaha Beach. Just realizing what day it is gives me a sad feeling. I remember how emotional my dad would get on this day each year. I miss my Dad, my brave loving caring Dad. I know he is in heaven with all the men he lost in this battle; the men he loved so much and morned on this day each year. Last edited by OCsun; 06-06-2017 at 10:40 AM. |
