Military service sent me west to rendezvous with my ship. Ship ultimately headed west. When transferred, I was sent west, again, and ended up back in the U. S.
For over 5 decades I have been one sunrise (day) behind everyone else. An hour either way ain't gonna matter much.

What would you guys complain about every March and November if they got rid of it?

Nonetheless, it is insane that they still make us do this. Hmm, maybe that's it: they make us do it just bc they can.

I strongly prefer not to change the clocks back and forth. It is simply a nuisance.

So little background. My father’s side are of European descent. Parents, grandparents and for centuries came from 100 mile radius of Villages. Apparently their gift, or curse is each only required a few hours of sleep. Unlike most we REM almost immediately no light sleep transition until the last 15-30 minutes. The Village decents have been studied for many years, and have many medical articles written. Most of us have lived long lives into their mid to late nineties, however we all have passed on a rare kidney issue every other generation.

I am the first gen who was not born of both parents from same village area. Only 3 out of 19 cousins that have the ability to only need 4 hours of sleep. Out of my 3 children 2 have the same ability, and one of our grandchildren shows same unique abilities.
We have zero devices that cause light in bedroom including clocks. Since we awake at the same time, no need for light interference of alarm clocks.
I do not nap, and when working if I missed my sleep time, I could with zero issues wait until following night.
Travel does not effect me, I just don’t sleep until my next time slot, but we usually took 6-8 weeks in summers traveling Europe, US and Canada, so plenty of time to adjust.

I attend a sleep clinic once a year for the continued study as does my children and grand. Since I brought up the time change inquiry the last two years of only 3 hours, My next study will be on next time change.

My question was of the general population, Do you have sleep issues due to time change.

Life is so difficult.

Sleep is a most fascinating subject to me. Just learnt that not everyone accepts PMs from ToTV.

Agree. Just don’t think about it. Other than changing a couple clocks, my life goes on without noticing a time change.

It is Daylight Saving Time (only one "s").

If you want a solution, two obvious choices are:
  1. Set your watch / phone / or some clock to UTC and set your schedule by it.
  2. Move to Arizona.

On my third day of fully awake at 2:30a. 4 hours I’m good, 3 not so much. With sleepy time tea, sleep oils, Vicks, soap at feet, and natural sleep aide every night sleep still alluding my well being. It takes months to recover my day light savings sleep loss, just when recovery is in my grasp, here it comes again. Can’t take prescription anything, causes severe night terrors. Sleep clinics love me for my almost all REM sleep. Even our cat has difficulty with feeding schedule.

Have been a satisfied four hour sleeper forever, just like my father, grandparents, and their parents, before them.

Anyone else find adapting twice a year just wrong.

Move to Arizona—or Cancun. They don’t use Daylight Savings Time.
I assume you also never travel.
My sleep cycle is affected more by the seemingly swift decrease in daylight hours in October and increase in the spring. When it’s dark, it’s time to do night things, like lie in bed and watch Netflix.

If they would only keep the sports pools open for lap swimming a couple hours after it gets dark!

Yeah, pools open for a few hours after dark. That was one of my biggest gripes when I first moved here.
Who makes the dam rules here? Shouldn't it be us?
I don't see why I can't go for a dip at midnight if I want to; as long as I don't disturb the neighbors.
If I drown, ts; I'm been an adult - for a long dam time.

Just stay up at night and extra hour and you are back in sync.

I'm with you on stopping it. But I prefer to go on permanent DST. I'd rather have the extra hour of daylight in the evening versus the morning.

aces_04 11-07-2024 07:54 AM

Yes

I want to go to bed as soon as it is dark. My cat on the other hand is not adapting to this human problem. I gave up long ago. It’s not her fault humans have this timesaving bull.

They could just change it 30 minutes either way and forget it forever. Simple fix.
