Thanks so much everyone - I got some good laughs AND the answer I was looking for! I was thinking they were something golf related - shows how much I know about golf! Hahaha!

Yup we have one too. That's where we keep the detergent and dryer sheets. It also adds an extra 18 inches to the "counter space" when you don't have an actual counter and fold your laundry on top of the dryer.
