We are in Hong Kong. It is 3:15 pm on December 21. Armagedon must occur in the next 9 hours or I guess we will be alright. Maybe only the other side of the world will come to an end. I love the Villages but I think we should stay here for a few more hours

As you may know the end of the world was scheduled by the Mayans for 11:11 UCT this Friday. You may also know that this time is linked to the winter solstice! Well I just learned that the US Naval Observatory, which determines the time of the solstice, has changed the time for the solstice. Winter solstice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This means that the world won't end at 11:11 as originally thought, but has been delayed to the new winter solstice time of... 11:12 UCT on Friday.

Don't waste the extra minute! :throwtomatoes:

Been reading Zoo, 666 Park Avenue, and The Life of Pi in the last few minutes of the Mayan existence. I thought that their civilization crumbled a long time ago with only their languages and peoples surviving. http://www.history.com/topics/maya http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayan_languages

I'm still here I guess I should pay the bills now

It's good here in the Village of Laurel Valley just off 466.

Coffee is WONDERFUL, getting the paper was a bit chilly.

The tree lights are on and I can't help being happy.

Love to all.

The Mayan calendar includes Dec 21. There is no mention of a half day so it would appear that the world will end at midnight. But, midnight where? Will it begin at midnight at the international date line and end every hour for 24 hours? Of course there was no international date line in Mayan times, but those buggers could see the future so maybe they could see that as well.

I've heard of people "preparing" for the end of the world. How, exactly, would one prepare for such an event.

If it doesn't end, tomorrow we'll all be talking about how silly the whole thing was. If it does end, who will care?

He's quite right. The Mayans simply invented a calendar. It covers many, many years and ends on Dec 21, 2012. No one seems to know exactly why. Now we're hearing that a newer version of their calendar has been discovered that continues after 12/21/12 but it's being kept under wraps until after the world ends.

Why does the sun go on shining
Why does the sea rush to shore
Don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cos the Mayan Calender is no more

and.....

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
I feel fine.

Notice: The following is the schedule for future "End of the World" events:
  • 11/12/13
  • 12/13/14
  • 1/6/16
  • 1/7/17
  • 1/8/18
  • 1/9/19
  • 2/20/20
Mark your Mayan Calendar now! WHAT! Oh! On second thought, there's no longer a Mayan Calendar. Guess you'll just have to mark your Gregorian Calendar instead!

:ho:

I read this excerpt online this morning, it was embedded in an article on the Mayan End of the World ......................

"Hundreds of people were scattered around the vast central plaza of Chichen Itza, some kneeling in attitudes of prayer, some seated with arms outstretched in positions of meditation, all facing El Castillo, the massive main pyramid.

Ivan Gutierrez, a 37-year-old artist who lives in the nearby village, stood before the pyramid and blew a low, sonorous blast on a conch horn. "It has already arrived, we are already in it," he said of the new era. "We are in a frequency of love, we are in a new vibration."

But it was unclear how long the love would last: A security guard quickly came over and asked him to stop blowing his conch shell, enforcing the ruin site's ban on holding ceremonies without previous permits."
