I've only seen one in so far in TV, she goes to MVP at Brownwood, it's silver like this one. If you saw her, you never think she owned that car.

Part of me wants a stick shift. The new auto trans are awesome but I miss the shift. Hard to find stick shift in high dollar sports cars.

My 67 Chevelle SS396 is a 4-speed.

How badly do you want a convertible? If it is not that important to you then a Tesla Model 3 Performance is something to consider. It is a very good handling car and the acceleration is outstanding (0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds). They have a single gear reduction so no shifting (sorry). They are also pretty low cost at about $60K.

Sorry but nothing better than the sound of muscle cruising at 75 mph.

I think many people answered but there were multiple interpretations of your question. First, is the main criteria fun or performance. I am assuming it was/is fun. Given that coupled with the sensational weather we generally have in TV, I would strongly suggest something that can 'drop the top.' Riding with the top down is, in itself, a blast. Soft or hard top is a choice. We prefer soft. Manual transmissions can also be fun if you happen to enjoy them. Unfortunately, they have become extremely rare so it would seriously limit your options. Someone, jokingly, referred to the color red as the fastest. There is a strong meaure of truth here. With a sports car, you have many more options concerning color. We too prefer something like an "arrest me" or "pull over" red. As to choices, I agree with the many who have suggested a Miata. They look great, are fun to drive and (within this category of cars) reasonable. In addition, there is an active club for owners here in TV. Moving on to used (which is also a great option since so much value disappeared when those cars left the show room), I want to add one suggestion that I don't think I have read here - Porsche Boxster. To my eye, this is simply a gorgeous car with better lines than most sportscars (including it's own big brother). I will add one third suggestion - a Corvette. This is the American dream sports car (Ford lovers can add Mustang in here as well). They are available in all colors and conditions. Bottom line, you are likely to enjoy whatever you pick. The Model 3 Performance has 450 horsepower and full torque at 0 rpms. The sound of muscle is silent.

Owned a Porsche Boxter for years. Most fun car I've ever driven. Mid engine, low center of gravity, 2 trunks front and back, nimble, quick, no body roll not too expensive for older models. Find a local mechanic for tune up. Did my own oil changes....12 qt capacity always amazed me for a small car. True, getting out can be tough but I had a maneuver down pat hoisting myself out by pushing off with my left arm. Didn't have to worry about that when I 1st bought the car at age 40!

Any early 70's muscle car. My preference would be the Chevelle. Fun and easy to get in and out of.
