The "media" keeps being mentioned in a lot of these posts. That is just a broad brush, isn't it really just cable news? They need fodder to keep the machine running.

Well perhaps a jury of 12 people found no cause to indict this officer on any of the potential charges but I am glad to see Eric Holder Attorney General for the Department Of Justice will not rest until he gets to the bottom of this issue.:D
This is a primary example of what happens when the government over reaches. The Civil Rights Laws of 1964 set in motion what was needed to level the playing field but pols couldn't leave it at that. No they not only started out by carrying the ball for the so called protected classes but eventually passed laws so that a ball was no longer needed to score. Honestly if this had been black cop who shot a white kid it might have made the papers once. America wants to put this race issue behind it but nonsense like this just pulls us all back |

Darren Wilson's legal troubles are far from over. There will be civil lawsuits along with the two Department of Justice investigations. The Ferguson police department is negotiating his departure from their staff. People like him, that get exonerated, have a way of self-destructing...think OJ Simpson and George Zimmerman.
IMO, Wilson's only hope for a future would be to change his name and appearance and move to some far-away place. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/201...able-in-court/ |

According to the findings of the Grand Jury, isn't it sad that that an individual who was shot at close range at the police cruiser and then run away only to turn around and charge unarmed toward the same individual who had shot him before and be shot multiple times? Was his life so bad that he wanted to commit suicide by cop? Unfortunately, Mr. Wilson was called upon to provide the service. No winners here!

Wilson forgot his training and fired at a person running away! Wilson was not in fear of his life when Brown was running away! |
Why wasn't there a special prosecuter appointed to replace the "local" prosecuter with close ties to the police department?

Does anyone think tonight will be any different? I heard a report that Big Al was heading to Ferguson. That will really get them agitated. He should be barred from entering Missouri until this whole thing settles down. The National Guard should also be given orders to shoot any looters and a curfew should be put in place.

The mob in the street doesn't care what the evidence said, they wanted him indicted. Mobs are ignorant, emotional and cowardly. Had we given the mob some rope, led by Rev. Al, I'm sure they would have been happy to lynch the police officer from the nearest tree. So now the police officer's life is ruined because he was doing his job. Yes, Brown is dead but he was also committing a felony at the time of his death. My overall feeling ... If I was a cop in St. Louis and had the power, I would designate certain areas of the city "police free zones' and then let the residents have at it. And I wonder why inner city residents complain that there are no businesses there to serve them? Duh |

I'm not sure a special prosecutor would change the outcome, Bogie. I served on a grand jury for 6 months. It was the prosecutor's job to bring cases to us, but we had broad powers to ask for witnesses and experts to explain things and go over evidence. The prosecutor almost served as more of an assistant to us. In fact, we had the ability to hear evidence/testimony on cases we wished to hear, that the prosecutor did even offer up. I'm sure there are differences from state to state and jurisdiction to jurisdiction. My point is that the members of a hand jury play a very active role in a case, not the passive role one sees on television before a judge. |

All this information is now available online. BTW not necessarily looking for a change in the outcome. |

From what I have heard it appears that presentation was likely very similar. I gather that because of comments from the Brown family attorneys who chastised the prosecutor for not taking what they described as a more aggressive role in efforts to sway the jury members. It sounds like the prosecutor was neutral in his presentation....as was my experience. |

The police would agree with that. And boy do I wish that your thoughts applied to all, but as you know they do not. Not just race relations, but in politics as well. BUT, consider that on the media, thus far from what I have heard, there is very little criticism of the folks who burned down a town and changed their lives in a negative way forever. Criticism reserved for POLICE for planning and shooting down blacks for NO reason....OFFICIALS of the city and state for their management of the grand jury and the announcement and so on. Looters come out pretty good Oh and by the way, Mr Brown is being treated with respect...much more than allowed Ferguson citizens, the police ALL of them being taken down as A GROUP As another poster alluded to, if only Mr Brown had not stolen the cigars and not attacked the policeman, the city would still be there.....the insurance companies making money and contractors getting in line to try and rebuild the city. |

GREAT, isn't it...for doing his job and doing it well !!! After this, you understand a bit why cops have a chip on their shoulder. |
Franz --like I said before you have the best quarterback and linebacker and continually lose, the team is a loser, the black race has had over forty years of special treatment, and what have they as a race accomplished ,,, I wish I had the opportunities they get and the ones I refer to is my age and they weren't slaves.

Had the media reported the incident objectively, the shooting probably would have been pretty much a non-event. Instead of headlines like "Convenience-store robber killed as he attacks cop", we were deluged by headlines like "Cop guns down unarmed black teenager." The reporting that followed these headlines was similar in tone.
I have CNN News on right now, and the distorted reporting continues. |

Everyone has been blamed but the one person! This boy would be alive today if he had not stole the box of cigars! !

This thread is about to be closed. But why you ask?
Because users are directing comments at other users and making political references. When it takes too much time to prune out all the violators we close it down which is not what we desire so we ask for everyone's cooperation to have an adult conversation accordingly. Thanks in advance, TOTV Team |

[QUOTE=Walter123;972684]This thread won't last long before it gets shut down.
This was in the second post on this thread. It lasted way longer than I thought it would. What's there to be said anyway? |
