Sadly, this difference is temporary as people spend more time indoors.
Delta is starting to rage through Europe again also. Hopefully the new antivirals will be approved soon and help minimize hospitalizations/deaths. Sooner or later, this thing has to go away. Hopefully this is the beginning for us.

floridapolitics.com: For now, as case and death numbers fall back toward where they were in June before the summer surge began, the mortality toll of the disease’s summer outbreak in Florida is coming into clear focus.
More people were reported to have died in Florida since June 20 than in any other state — more than Texas, California, or Arizona. Even when Florida’s large population is factored in, Florida’s per-capita death rate was worse than all other states’, including smaller Southern states that suffered harsh summer surges, such as Louisiana and Arkansas. unfortunately, the 60,000 dead can't give us their opinion. |

or course there is this: More nursing home residents and staff died of COVID-19 in Florida during a four-week period ending Aug. 22 than in any other state in the country, according to an AARP analysis released today. but unfortunately, this did not lead to a requirement that all staff should be vaccinated. just the opposite. I, for one, wouldn't want my loved ones cared for by someone who wasn't vaccinated. as a former health care worker, it boogles my mind that people are thrilled it's not going to be mandated. |

With the high infeciousness of Delta (globally), the disease will likely be cronic like the Flu. We will need to learn to live with it.

from the site you posted: Here is a breakdown of average daily COVID-19 deaths and COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the last seven days in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. The data was last updated Nov. 19. Last edited by Bonnevie; 11-19-2021 at 12:19 PM. Reason: + |
