Default Florida sunpass limitations

Can one use the Sunpass driving in other states? Sure would be easier.

As far as I know, it is just in Florida. EZ pass works in other states besides NY. Perhaps you can call Sunpass and ask. Just a thought.

Coming soon. They are meshing with EZ Pass.

Sun Pass and EZ Pass are two different set ups. They will not work on the other system. The last I read, they are trying to make them work together.

Is there an EZ pass I can buy in Florida tonight or tomorrow morning so I can use it when I get off the car train in Virginia?

You might try stopping in a rest stop on the interstate in VA. Sometimes they sell them in there. We had to send away for our EZ Pass, but that was years ago.

I found a "Giant" grocery store that sells them about 10 minutes from the car train in Lorton. I will stop there to get it and be on my way. Thanks for all the advice. I just love this site. I wonder if there is a question I can ask that no one can answer.

I don't think you can buy it and have it be operational immediately.
I think you have to allow a day or two to set up your account with
a credit card/debit card for payment of the tolls.

Yes, actually you can buy it, call up and it works immediately when you call during their office hours. It does not work always weekends.

Really? I thought you get immediate access when you purchase from a store.

That's good. I actually have one but it has been a long time since
I activated it. And, I have a Sunpass too and that is what I remember
about it....that it took a day or two to get it operational.

I bought mine at AAA. Then got on the Internet and set it up the same day. You need to use a credit card to deposit some money into the account.

I personally would pay the tolls manually as VA is tough on toll jumpers. I would think you wouldn't wan't to think your EZ pass is activated, and find out the hard way, that it doesn't work.

I was just on the EZ Pass site, and one man racked up 200K for toll violations. OUCH!! He thought he was going to beat the system, but that didn't happen.

You could ask, "Why all the animus on this site?" Seems that thread has gone on long enough with no acceptable answer.
