Because i have a grocery pickup account with them, I got an email from Walmart:

Great Value 12 CT Large Grade A Egg | 7874212707
Great Value 12 CT X-Large Grade A Egg | 7874212712
Great Value 18 CT X-Large Grade A Egg | 7874212713
Great Value 36 CT Large Grade A Egg | 7874212710
Great Value 12 CT Jumbo Grade A Egg | 7874212714
Great Value 18 CT Large Grade A Egg | 7874212708
Great Value 60 CT Large Grade A Egg | 7874212711

Info about other brands is available at: Rose Acre Farms Recalls Shell Eggs Due to Possible Health Risk

Then I had to decide: play the odds and eat them, throw them out, or go stand in line and get my $1.17 back. ;-)

That's somewhat useful unless I'm using it incorrectly. For example I sorted for food.
The newest post is 2 weeks ago 3/30.
There is no mention of eggs or lettuce.

Per the video... The recall involves eggs with the plant number P-1065, with the Julian date range of 011 through 0102 printed on either side of the carton or package.

The date range is from January 11 to April 12.

So much for accuracy in reporting..

Bottom line: If you're concerned about your eggs being contaminated just throw them out.. What's a $3.00 carton of eggs when it comes to your health or peace of mind?

Best BYO 42918

What does that mean?

I think you’re okay. Best by means your eggs are good through December 31, 42918.

I don't understand. The first item listed on the page I sent was eggs.

I'm throwing mine out even though I think they are safe.
I'm joining Walmart too just for the emails. I like to shop. They are recalling 200 million eggs, yikes.

I googled florida food recall [last 24 hours]

I can't remember if you can make a google alert that specific---it would be handy.

I missed it, sorry.

"Through an abundance of caution Rose Acre Farms of Seymour, Indiana is voluntarily recalling 206,749,248 eggs because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Braenderup, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."

Do you believe how specific that number is? Two dozen people got sick. 24/206749248=?% Why worry?

tomwed 04-15-2018 02:17 PM

I couldn't find the lettuce on the linked recall site. And it doesn't look like florida is on the list but that's huge too.

Oh, balls. I just bought two bags of Caesar salad kits with chopped romaine. Florida isn't one of the affected states so far, but the details are still pretty vague.

I do not want to take a chance with E. coli even more than I don't want to mess with salmonella!

I didn't see lettuce either. Try this site it seems more up to date.

200 million eggs recalled over salmonella fears

A few days ago I bought eggs in Walmart and the only brand name I can see is Great Value. So I guess my eggs are fine.

I am asking you to check my USA Today source and see if it's a real concern.

And find your own source that you can share about the lettuce. I haven't been to the stores lately so my hunch is that if there was a problem, the grocery stores would be the first to know and pull the product.

Is my hunch true?

Look again, Great Value is on the list.

ME TOO. I bought three salad kits because our daughter had served them to us when we were North and they were yummy. I didn't know we had another romaine alert. The last one was in January. I thought that had passed.

Salad is always a crap shoot when it comes to microorganisms. I don't worry about it, but when they warn you....well..
