I’d take it to the sheriff. If a week went by and no one claimed it..I would.

Not bored. True story. Was told by police officer if i turned it in to him that it goes into the evidence locker. If no one claims it, it stays there forever. I cannot get it back.

Finders keepers

Yeah, that makes sense to me.

It depends on the amount. If it’s $2.19, I will not spend time looking for the owner, I’ll put it in the collection plate at church. If it’s $10,000 I’ll take it to police. If I end up with the money after required time, I’ll give it to church or poor in the area. I don’t know why but I would feel uncomfortable spending money that’s not mine.

For us, I’d wait and see if someone posts that they lost it, afterwards, I’d find a children’s charity like St. Judes to donate it to. I’d sleep well knowing I made a difference for some poor family, which I could never do with the little money I have.

And why would a "young waitress" be carrying $500 cash in her apron? #1) They turn in cash when a check is paid (OK maybe even 2 or 3), #2) That wouldprob be about 15-20 checks for 1 waitress on 1 shift and #3) I'd bet 80% of checks are paid by credit card AND They aren't that busy. If it smells like fish it's fishy.

Oh, thank you so much. I was hoping someone would find that bag of money I lost!

IM me where I can pick it up.

Bag of money

Look in TOTV to see who lost it!

I’d take it home and hold on to it, and look in the lost and found in the local papers. If someone lost it and advertised it, I’d contact them and return the money. I’d never give it to customer service or the police, because if I did, I don’t think I’d ever see it again if nobody came forward to claim it.

Found wad of money on street one block away from Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco. Not a person in site, stuck it in my pocket and went back into hotel and counted money($600). Asked others about it and all agreed this was the best way to handle. If I were in a store or some other public place would have given it to store manager with instructions that if cash not claimed, it would be mine.

Not brag about it here.
