Less stuff in at one time should do the trick once you get it unclogged. I removed ours. Don't care for them at all. My personal choice!
If it's a four barrel, most likely it's a Hemi.

Corn husks are another thing that should never go down a garbage disposal.

I would not leave the food in the garbage disposal for 6 weeks, outside of the possible smell, you may attract a lot of bugs. Have your house sitter get a plumber (or better yet a handyman) and have it cleaned out and fixed.

That is a good point. I think I would just put the drain plug in and rotate the faucet to the other sink in case it leaks. Water in the drain trap is supposed to keep out bugs. That would be the frugal way to go.

Garbage disposal is fixed! Thanks to TOTV. I asked Gary Stambaugh 352 460-3173 (very reasonable) he went out immediately, Empty Nest had to let him in and they were on the ball right away too. I watched the whole thing from my security camera from over a thousand miles away. Are they the best, or are they the best?

Gary is the best! He did a great job plumbing when we updated the guest bathroom. I highly recommend Gary.

It was your recommendation I followed up, JSR. I have to agree.

I would have tried to do it myself if I had been there... not sure how That would have worked out.

Thank you for your good wishes. It was the gas up North, the gas company turned off the gas to the house because the professionally installed 2 year old Kohler standby generator developed a loose connection. The neighbor was afraid of being blown up if they smoked outside. So they called the gas company. The temperature dropped at night to below freezing and we were worried about the pipes freezing. All is fixed now. Finally, I can relax and do a bit of reading. Hubby is back to working his very long hours again, at least he will have hot water to shower when he comes home tonight.
