"What does this abbreviation mean?
Here's a list of common (politically correct) abbreviations used on the forums:

BBL = be back later
BF = boyfriend
BH = better half
BIL = brother-in-law
BRB = be right back
BTW = by the way

DD = dear daughter
DH = dear husband
DIL = daughter-in-law
DS = dear son
DSD = dear step-daughter
DSS = dear step-son
DW = dear wife
FIL = father in law
FWIW = for what it's worth
GF = girlfriend
HTH = hope this helps

IMHO = in my humble opinion
IMNSHO = in my not so humble opinion
IMO = in my opinion
ISO = in search of
JMO = just my opinion
LMAO = laugh my a** off
LMBO = laugh my butt off
LOL = laugh out loud
MIL = mother in law
OMG = oh my gosh
RAK = random acts of kindness
ROFL = rolling on floor laughing
ROFLMAO = rolling on floor laughing my a** off
SA = smart aleck
SAHM = stay at home mom
SIL = sister-in-law or son-in-law
SNERT = snot-nosed egotistical rude teenager
SO = Significant Other (boyfriend/girlfriend)

I've chatted in other chatrooms/forums over the years and here are some of the abbreviations that have been used (and I use now):

tc = take care
hagd = have a good day
hagn = have a good night
gm = good morning
ge = good evening
cya = see ya
cul = see you later
wtg = way to go

I have certainly had my fair share of PITAs from other posters on many another forum. Had one on Findlaw whom I was trying to help with his legal research for his various legal problems but he used personal information I had given him via e-mail to make many libelous attacks on me using a multitude of anonymous names for almost four years and in hundreds of posts. Some of these were even close approximations of my real name or sarcastic copies of other posts I had made. The man was extremely creative though.
