Apparently Meghan tries very hard to look white. Ever since she grew up she’s had her hair straightened. You can easily see that on old family photos.

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Net Worth vs. Kate Middleton & Prince William's

Most of their money now comes from things they have contracted to do in the future. It does not come from the Royals. A small amount does.

That was funny!

I find it ironic that Meghan and Harry say they should have a right to privacy and then “tell all” in an interview with Oprah on national television. If they had wanted to truly stay out of the spotlight, they could have moved to New Zealand and set up house on a farm. In a few years, no one would even remember them, kind of like Prince Andrew. Instead, they are capitalizing on their current fame while both have admitted they have mental health issues. I think that sums it up.

Nobody I admire would go on National Television and talk about the inlaws unless they were Ax Murderers.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I consider it a non-event relative to my life. I want to just remark that Meghan's husband Harry could have married a lot of others, I am sure. So, he must have seen some good qualities in her -
and he was aware that there would be a backlash against himself eventually. Since I have not taken any time to analyze this deeply, I would take her at face value - it seems she just wants to vocalize HER side of the story - every story has more than one side. What are her options? Write a book that no one reads or go on Oprah and get people to listen. It would seem to me to be VERY hard to get onto Oprah's show without being sincere. Plus Harry served in the Army - I give him Kudos for that. That was a humble thing to do.

'Family and country first, right or wrong!'

PS. As for Kate Middleton being a member of 'British aristocracy,' her father came from a wealthy family of solicitors (lawyers) and her mothers father was a builder, and if that makes them aristocrats, I'm the Duke of Tottenham!

Family and country right or wrong......?......that is like some kind of blind tribalism. Modern man should have moved past that. I WISH it were true that MY family and country WERE right all the time. That is some dream world. That does NOT work for me - I reserve my right to be critical.

Whatever any member of my family or country does, I will back them to the hilt.
I don't have to like the reason or situation.
If that is 'tribal' so be it.
To me it is love and loyalty.

This is where most people who live in The Villages find they do not agree with this sentiment. I am one of them. We have the largest VFW in the country just outside The Villages. If you have not been to the Eisenhower Center, please go and see. I am a Patriot. Proud to be an American. That is my tribe, my group, my country.

I'll be the "medicine man" in that tribe:)

The world would be a better place if we all were bi-racial - we all had olive skin. That would cut down on the animosity. Maybe in 3 or 4 more generations?

My ex is Mexican. I'm Irish/Slovak, very pale, reddish hair. My kids looked like him except that one was very dark and one had my coloring. People commenting on that all the time and it was never in a racist/ugly way, just "isn't that funny/curious/interesting ... " I was never offended in the least. But it's a different world, in which everyone and everything is deemed racist to the point where that word has become meaningless.

That's all true, but a person can be both patriotic and critical at the same time. I believe in borders but at the same time, I try not to be ethnocentric. Blind patriotism vs critical patriotism - that is the issue here.

Agree. So many people have lost the definition of loyalty... so many broken families, broken countries as a result.

I take all seven of the NY governor’s accusers at face value too. But I have no dog in that fight.

I follow the Royal Family and have for years. The interview was very sad to me. Here is a couple that have had a privileged life, specially Harry who was born into it. I understand Megan had problems with the press but so do a lot of other royal family members & celebrities. She was a TV actress and should know that's what sells papers, articles & podcasts.
I feel they aired their complaints in public to get attention.
They have the money Harry inherited from Diana. I completely agree the Royal Family should have cut out their stipend, they were not working as Royals. I see nothing but spoiled brats complaining about their life while wearing thousand dollars dresses & shoes.
The baby's skin color would be typically mentioned, why not. She is half black, they didn't say, "Oh, No the baby might be black skinned"
They need to grow a pair. Maybe I am just old & don't worry about how others act around me. No one promises us a life of riches & nothing negative.
You didn't miss a thing with not seeing the interview.

brfree1411@aol.com 03-16-2021 05:47 PM

I agree about Megan, who wants to commit suicide & not get help. She had no issue leaving LOndon for the US for her baby shower.

Doro22 03-16-2021 06:00 PM

Meghan claims “racism”. I haven’t heard anything specific. Perhaps the ? She heard 2nd hand re the color of the baby’s skin. I would think that even Meghan & Harry wondered about that. Wouldn’t that be a natural thing to want to see. Doesn’t every parent want to know the color of baby’s eyes or hair or how they look to the world. Me thinks Miss Markel not happy with looking too Black since she has had her hair straightened since she was old enough to make that decision. (As I mentioned in another post.) She’s a phony & has dragged Harry into that realm. Very sad.

JSR22 03-16-2021 06:09 PM

What I find sad that a bunch of old people are so judgemental. I wish Harry, Megan and their children a long happy life.

We are fascinated by the Royal family and we talk about everything else why not them.

Well The Meghan & Harry team are the ones who put themselves out there. And if one doesn’t want to judge “a bunch of ‘old people’ perhaps one shouldn’t read this topic.

They did put themselves out there. Fortunatelythey will never read the nasty posts be people who live in TV. If the did I think they would laugh.

Doro22 03-16-2021 06:54 PM

Using past experience with their thin skin...hmm I very much doubt they are laughing. More like planning another Oprah interview.

Velvet 03-16-2021 07:05 PM

I found it interesting that Oprah asked, did they want it both ways, walk away from being working Royals, but keep the stipend and the security (around $4,000,000 annually) to be paid for by the taxpayers they prefer not to work for?

I can't imagine having to turn over my driver's license and passport to "the organization". That is losing a lot of personal control. I recall reading Kitty Kelly's "The Royals" and coming away with a lot of empathy for the royal family. They really have no authority and are just paid and supported by the taxpayers to maintain a historical fantasy, like characters in a play.
I don't understand why US citizens even care about this. But there certainly are too many irate opinions. Is this Face
book?

We never wondered what our child would look like, unlike your comment. We worried if the baby would be healthy. But most of all, no matter what the challenge, we would love them.

The hair straightening is so not politically correct, Michelle Obama has straight hair, as does her girls. Does that really make them hiding their heritage?

Our grandchildren are not the pure breed you seem to except. They are much loved no matter what color they were born with, but were raised to understand not everyone would except their “of color background”.
