To him, nearly everything was about racism.

I worked on many committees over the years with many black people. Some were excellent workers while others were not. It had nothing whatsoever to do with color. It had to do with their level of ambition. It was exactly the same with white members of the same committees. Some were very ambitious while others expected everyone else to carry the load. Some of my greatest working partners were black. I rarely noticed skin color, but I did notice the character of all with whom I worked.

I also have met many black people who are much more accomplished than I. Everyone has heard of Dr. Ben Carson. He didn’t let color stand in his way nor did he make excuses. He worked hard and succeeded. But then so did Condoleezza Rice, and many many others.

One thing I’ve learned in my decades of living is that when *any* group is separated out from all the other groups there are going to be problems. You cannot divide people and expect smooth relationships to develop. You cannot legislate behavior, morality or ethics. Every time you single out someone or some group you divide and create another avenue for dissent and disagreement. Just look at Travon Martin and the Ferguson ordeal.

The WH is our nation’s greatest promoter and aggravator of racism today followed closely by the likes of Al Sharpton. In the past we have had Presidents who were uniters. Today we have a divider. Both knew/know exactly what they were/are doing. Both extremes had/have their reasons.

I end with this thought: one’s character is exposed, not by one’s words, but by one’s deeds.

How much more of a political statement can be made than this???

I wouldn't let him park my car.

We have all seen or been discriminated against at one time or another. And Blacks have seen it a lot more than others. We need to heal this country not keep throwing this red flag in everyone's face. All this does is cause more hate and discontent.

I thought when Obama was elected he had a chance to do the most of anyone possible to move this county forward in a positive way on the race issue. Instead he has gone out of his way to do just the opposite and this is just one more example of how he does it. Makes absolutely no sense to me. What does he gain from this and how does it help anyone?

Slightly over a year ago, I decided to let my hair go naturally gray/white. In many situations there has been a profoundly different way I am treated since that time. Its almost amusing. I have been ignored, talked to "loudly" and slowly, and emotionally discounted in many areas -just because of my hair color. Now, I could get offended; I could get angry and shout and get belligerent. But does that get me anywhere? Doesn't it just "feed-into" the stereotype of a crazy old lady.

My point is the same for any type of racism. Blacks don't have the only market on racism. There are plenty of times I have realized that I was being followed or "watched" by security in a store. I have NEVER stolen from a store ever (even in childhood) but I must have seemed suspicious in some way. If I was black, would I assume it was because I was black? C'mom. This whole "hurt feelings" things is out of control. Everyday I could feel slighted in some way or another. Get over it.

I didn't loose my brains or become hard of hearing because my hair is now gray but I'm not going to let those slights ruin my day or life.

I have a friend who is black, she was my neighbor in Cincinnati. She posted a picture on Facebook of the recent gathering in Washington, protesting police violence. She said "Isn't that beautiful?" It was a picture of thousands and thousands of people protesting police violence. I didn't know how I felt about that, I very much support the police, but I like her and respect her very much. I am confused. Obviously I am doing or thinking something wrong.

I was referring to your statement that you have never seen anyone talking down to a black person. I maybe mistakenly thought you were saying it rarely happens. I was disagreeing with what I thought you meant. I know you are not a racist. But Dee made some very good points, and I thought you were disagreeing with them.

I apologize to you if I was mistaken, GG. I know you to be a good and kindhearted person. Our politics don't match, and I think maybe we hold opposite views on some other issues, but I respect you mightily.
