First, a disclaimer. These are not my words. The following words came straight from an email from Spaceweather.com. After seeing what happend over at the Big Moon topic, I want you all to know that I take no responsibility for the wording of this announcement:

HOURS OF VENUS: For the rest of the week, Venus is at maximum elongation (greatest apparent distance) from the sun. This means the silvery planet is "up" for more than three hours after sunset. Go outside after dark, face south, and take a long look. Venus is so bright it outshines city lights and even pierces thin clouds. The view through a backyard telescope may surprise you. Check http://spaceweather.com for images and more information.

Thanks for the info Judy. I've always been interested in Astronomy and Astrology. The first book I ever saved up for and bought for myself was 'Understanding the Stars' and I was about 8 years old. I took Astronomy in college and am now taking an Astrology class that's very interesting. Yes! I do believe in Astrology! Fascinating subjects.

And do you suspect that the science guy who worded that thing from spaceweather.com might have known that, too?

Yes, Boomer! The words! I received the Venus alert right in the middle of all the hullabaloo over in Big Moon, and I couldn't believe it when I read it! The Spaceweather.com guys must sit around laughing when they write these astronomical alerts. They MUST know all about Venus! Thanks for resisting -- as difficult as it must have been for you! I hope you didn't freeze your tootsies off looking at Venus.

Nothing is worse than being the one one at the party who doesn't get the joke.

I cannot explain anything to Tony. In the "Big Moon" thread I tried to explain poems and poets and all kinds of useful stuff to him. But he just could not seem to grasp any of it. I think he thinks I am an English major and I think that Tony is askeered of English majors. I keep trying to show him proof that I cannot possibly be one. But I think he is still askeered. I think you would have better luck explaining things to Tony.

And, Judy, I am trying to figure out how to explain to you that I forgot, yes completely forgot, to go look at Venus. It was cold and I put it off and then I forgot. When will she be back? Is she out there now? I feel so bad. (Some people would say, "I feel badly." But that ain't right. And I do not know why I had to say that. Now Tony will think that I am an English major.)

Boomer, she was out tonight, but she was more westish than southish.
Just look for the brightest star in the sky right after sunset. She'll be up for a few hours. She was still up (although westish) at 7:30. The sun sets here around 5:50+ now. It's setting later every day. Spring is coming!
