Default I-75 New Years Eve

Just returned from Gainesville. Left at 0630, normal traffic southbound. Gainesville pretty quiet, Trader Joe’s had minimal customers. Had lunch at Maple Street.

Entered Southbound I-75 @ 1300, and then the what was I thinking having an appointment on 12/31. Three lanes of Solid traffic all the way south. Usually nearing Ocala it slows a bit, but many times doing 40mph, the entire time.

Bonus not many got off at TV. Wondering if this would be a slower year, but the drive today may have changed my mind. Usual drive time little over an hour. Today Total drive time 2 hour 41minutes. Welcome back

The worst part of I75 always seems to be between Leesburg and around Ocala for traffic tieups.

Default Snowbirds heading south for rentals!

It's best to stay off the interstates and the turnpike in Florida if you can at the end of the month or first day of the month during January, February, and March. Most rentals turn over at the end of the month so there is more traffic headed both north & south during these months.

Usually we don’t drive I-75 or go to the grocery the first 5 days of month in high season. But when your oncologist calls you at 7pm and asks you to come in the AM on NYE, you go, crazy traffic or not.
