Mr. Dennis obligingly would go out into his fields and pick me a bushel of corn for $1.00...corn that still had dew settling it and would be divided three ways my parents, my wife's parent and she and me

and because there were so many truck farmers produce stands along country roads were plentiful. Syracuse had a wonderful farmers market

Unfortunately, there are only 3 or 4 of these stands left. Some of them got together and opened a "store" at Rt. 20 and Half Acre Rd. The Auburn farmer's market pales in comparison to Syracuse's

A good southern cafeteria with "home-cooked" food, like Luby's. Alas, they seem to belong to a bygone era.

Gio's on 301 just north of 466 has a great retail counter. Owned by Giovani's

I don't miss that at all, but I can appreciate your perspective.

True. And I am reminded of the godly aroma that permeates the air in mid September when they are harvesting grapes.

My cousin lived in a little town named Cohocton. It had one stop light. As kids we wait by that stop light for the truck farmers to stop. run behind the truck and unload as much produce as we could. The memory of the taste of those sweet peas on the curbside still is as fresh as the sweetness of those peas. Can't find that either

The boss (wife) says beefsteak tomatoes can be found at Winn Dixie at $1.29 a pound...at least that's what they are calling them

I've been buying them the past couple of weeks. They are from Canada. Nice sized tomatoes but they just don't taste like the beefsteaks I had growing up. Could be my taste buds are not the same either!

No shot at you, I get your drift. When the Diamonds prevent the entry doors from the house from opening its time to bust a move southward. :mademyday: I Love It Here! :clap2:
