I have recieved word that the poster known as "Carl in Tampa" has passed away.
Many will remember Carl for his wisdom and wit and recall that he spent his life in law enforcement and particularly in the Secret Service guarding the president. He visited our home and we are very sad to hear this unexpected news. Prayers for his family and his friends here and in Tampa. Carl lived here in The Villages for awhile and then his health went downhill and he moved back to Tampa to be closer to his children. He was a clear thinker and a good person and will be missed.
Here is the notice I copied from Facebook, just now. Carl Shawver 14 mins · Carl Shawver's visitation will take place Monday, November 11th, 2019, from 6 to 8pm at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, at 2 o'clock pm at the same location. If you have any pictures of Carl, unique or otherwise, please feel free to bring them on your smartphone as we will have a photo sharing system at both services. In lieu of flowers, as per Carl's request, please send donations to Idewild Baptist Church. The Garden Of Memories Funeral Home is located at 4207 E Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33610.

Mr. Carl was a gift to me and us given by TOTV'S. I would have never had a chance to correspond with anyone of his stature as I had contact with him occasionally via PM as his views on many things aligned with mine. What a fair level headed and a knowledgeable man he was. I admired him greatly. He was missed as he had stopped posting a while back and will be missed by many going forward. Just a great person. What a devastating loss.
RIP Mr. Carl. You had a positive impact on our world! |

Knew he was in ill health but a battler. A very smart and articulate poster. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

He was one of the few posters that when he had something to say, he had something to say. RIP Carl.
