Default I need help-gas dryer

I live in a patio villa in Liberty Park and my gas dryer in the garage does not heat since it was moved for concrete work. I'm leaving for home (Michigan) Monday and have laundry to do! I think the dryer has an electronic ignition. I've looked and looked and can't figure out what to do to get heat again. I think there must be a valve but I can't find it.

Do you live close to me and be willing to come take a look and help me? I'm desperate!

Make sure they did not kink the exhaust hose (large 6 inch diameter flexible hose on the back bottom of the dryer) when it was moved for the work. If it is kinked or clogged the clothes can not dry. Also make sure it is plugged into the wall electrical outlet. Even though it is gas it needs the be plugged into the wall outlet.Thirdly they may have shut off the gas to the dryer. If there is a shut off it is behind the dryer where a flexible hose ( about 1 inch in diameter and metal) goes into the wall behind the dryer. There may be a handle valve that can turn 90 degrees that was turned off but not turned back on.

Jeffy has provided EXCELLENT suggestions any of which should be the culprit. If however, you still encounter the problem log onto www.repairclinic.com and the site will walk you through most situations. I have used the site many times with success and I usually don't know which end to hold a hammer! ;D

good luck

I was the problem!

My son lives only 11 miles away but I'm an independent sort and wanted to do it on my own. Although I thought I found the valve I couldn't get it to turn. I was hesitant to apply pressure because what I thought was the valve looked like half a c-clamp or half a wing nut if you can picture that. I thought the valve would look like a lever....like what I have at home. And when I applied pressure to turn it, I couldn't get it to turn. I have to admit I was somewhat afraid, too.

Well, my son came over and turned it easily...I'm so embarrassed.

Great news, brightspot01. Very happy that you got it fixed. when you have time check out the www.repairclinic.com because if you are "an independent sort" as you state then this website is something which may help you in the future. Now you can travel to Michigan with clean clothes....travel safely. wav
