Whatever happened to the Texan idea of calling out the Texas National Guard for the "Bayonets On The Border" plan? Was it scrapped or what?

I don't have an answer or solution, all I know is that I thank God that I don't have to send my child to another country in order to keep them alive. Of course it's not a good situation and as a country we are forced to determine the right thing to do, not only to keep our 'real' citizens happy but to also be humane. I am appalled at the actions of many people, people who profess to be Christians. I have never, ever seen hatred like this. You try living in one of these 'suites'...picture your child there, alone, afraid. Heaven forbid they should be able to play ping pong. Let's punish them. Let's see, what would make you happy...dirt floors, gruel, rocks to play with. Is it the 'flat screen' tvs that bother you? Would it be ok if they had old tube type tvs? Maybe they shouldn't be entertained at all....they don't deserve it...they aren't American. Let them wallow in filth and stare at the ceiling until we can toss them back over the border. Yep, that's what Jesus would do.

Hi karostay: Actually those families whose children were born in America after they emigrated are Americans (first generation Americans, second ,etc). Also those immigrants who came to America via the front door and studied to become Americans are American once they take the oath. However illegal aliens by any other name is still an illegal alien

What we are witnessing right now is mass hysteria and hyperbole created by politicians. The illegals coming over the border are placing themselves in harms way making this journey.

Ok, I'm going to ask a question I asked before but nobody gave a direct answer. Many of these folks are children that came here with other children. In some cases, the oldest was 10-12 while looking out for brothers and sisters as young as 4. NO ADULTS, where do you propose we send them. They are children for goodness sakes.(adults are a different argument) Wouldn't it make more sense to take these children in and SHOW them why America is excellent? Take them an educate them so they could become thriving contributors to our society. Teach them to love this country as much as you or I do. Or.........send them back and to a country that doesn't want them, won't cloth or feed them, has no standard of living and will eventually teach them that we are evil?

They need their moms far more than they need a new experience in a new place no matter what an opportunity it presents. I think they should be treated kindly and returned to their parents.. Some say you don't know what you would do if your child lived in awful conditions. I know that no one would ever separate me from my dependent child. EVER. It isn't right and it isn't what mothers do. I feel their parents are using them. If they want to be here, then come and leave the little ones back there with their grandparents. Don't use them as pawns.

You're right Gracie. In a perfect world they should be with their mommies. But, as you have asked, what kind of mother sends her child away like that. I see this as a golden opportunity for us as a nation.
As far as over half the population agreeing with you, I would really reconsider whether that is a good thing or not. (Remember our elections every four years) ;0

Try living with your children in an area filled with drug cartels and poverty...you know that no matter what you do your children will end up either in drugs, victims of sex crimes or dead. Do you really, by ANY stretch of imagination, think that because these people are impoverished their feelings for their children is less that what you feel? I'm sure that most of these mothers feel that their hearts were being ripped out when they had to say goodbye. Historically, people all over the world had to watch their children leave to find a better life. There was no agenda, just sacrificial love on the part of our ancestors so we could enjoy the life we have here. The monies spent on these children is mere fraction of the tax money the politicians are squandering. The arrogance and entitlement of some Americans makes me sick.

What oath did we take when as took the land from the American Indians.

Trish - That sounds just like Detroit, Chicago, downtown Orlando, etc. Two streets away from my house there is one of several local 'projects' in my community. The picture you paint is exactly what goes on there. The killings in our town are all related to a variety of drug gangs fighting over territory and killing for unpaid drug accounts. My family participates with and funds resources for the kids there thru Big Brothers and Sisters. Beyond our federal taxes we spend our social assistance funds locally...we have no more $$ to fund illegal immigration.

Let the illegals be returned to their homes or to the families who are supposed to be here to receive them; and let the rest of us try to better the lives of the less fortunate who already live among us.

Im with you Trish. Im amazed of how many self righteous supposedly God loving people are out there with these easy answers to very complex issues. We have heard them spout off before, "let em starve", " bomb them to hell", " if they dont like it send em back to where they come from". I remember a guy named Hitler who had a easy "solution" to what he considered a complex issue.

Let me ask when the American Indians traveled here to North America do you suppose these American Indians" took an oath before taking the land from the then natives? You don't believe that from the Pilgrims to the mass exit of people from Europe THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR of American these so called immigrants and their offspring haven't earned their place here.

I am afraid you paint with too much of a wide brush an immigrant by any other name is not always an immigrant. sometimes they are called illegal aliens and they need to be properly processed through the front door as have millions upon millions of people before them.

And finally just think that but for those legal immigrants this world would have never known the greatest and most generous nation on his earth since the beginning of time
