Default Internet shopping

How many of you shop on the internet?

I do almost all of my shopping this way. I buy everything. Cloths, appliances, tools, cars, even found a grocery delivery thats great, wine, and much much more. I can almost always find the best price and have it delivered to the door. If it's a big purchase I may go to a store to look, but it is just so easy and saves so much time. I only use one credit card that has a zero charge fraud benefit and I make sure that it is a secure sight.

Am I unique? Do other use this way to buy stuff? What % of your shopping do you do on the internet? Mine is something over 80% and probably closer to 90%.

50/50 -- I'd love to buy clothes via the internet but they rarely feel or fit right. I'm short-waisted and long-legged. I have enough problems shopping for jackets in a store. Trying to get on on the net is dang near impossible.

So, if it's not clothes or food (although I used to use Safeway home delivery in California for 95% of my food purchases), I try to buy it via the net (as long as the shipping is free).

Did 95% of my Christmas shopping on line. Most of it was shipped free because I shop places that offer free shipping or I spent a certain amont that qualified for free ship. Saved me the time and money to ship it to the various family members around the coutry.
In non holiday times I do about 50/50, with the exception of clothes. That is strictly hands on for me.

:2cool:

I adore internet shopping. I watch for free shipping especially then buy. However, I do buy with shipping charges attached as well. I adore Amazon.com. I can honestly say they have never let me down......not once and I buy so much from them not just books, of course.......everything.

Also our children are all over the place so shopping via the net makes it a good idea because I'd have to use shipping anyway and also I get what I know they like, for they often have it online if it's sold out at the nearby store.

We also order our steaks and wonderful Italian Sausages online. I have tried different sausage places and finally found a wonderful store in Brooklyn which reminds me I'd better get an order together soon.

So yes online is sweet. Never had a problem because I only use secure sites.....always.

I've been doing clothing shopping on line for probably more than 15 years, never had a problem with fraud and have found that by the time I go around to all the stores to see what's still available, with gas prices what they are, I can afford to ship the 2day plan. I love it and once I find a site that pleases me and everything fits, I do all my shopping with them.

Unfortunately, due to this trend, we will probably lose all department stores in the next 5-10 years and normal shopping routine will be either WalMart/Costco/Target or Internet. Sad but true!!

Interesting topic. I must agree that internet shopping has dramatically increased when free shipping is offered. Grandson works for UPS. It was not as busy this year--according to him, UPS didn't get "hit" as in past years. They feel it was due to internet shopping with free shipping.

Who can pass up such a good offer?

I notice a lot of "when the shipping is free" I do it. I also look for free shipping, but beyond that I look for best price. By that I mean what does the final bill look like including shipping. Many times I have found some place where I pay for shipping but the total price is still less. The internet allows me to almost always find the lowest price for an item. Example. I wanted to replace my cook top which was electric with a 6 burner gas cooktop. The hole was already there in the corian so I needed the exact same size or slightly bigger. The vent was a down draft so I needed one where the vent hook up was in the same place. So started searching and finally found a Jenn-aire model that was a very close match. Did a search on the model number and found many places that sold it and took the one with the lowest total price. It arrived 3 days later and got it installed that weekend and was again a happy cook. Ten years ago I could have never done that no matter how many stores I went to. And parts for things like my old furnace humidifier, found them on the net. Again 10 years ago would have had to replace it. Have even bought shower glass enclosures from eshower.com and they had to be crated and shipped, but still less then half what the local dealer wanted.

It is changing how we spend our money more dramatically then credit cards.

I did 99% of my Christmas shopping on the Internet because I was on a mission. Being concerned with the China lead concerns and having 3 grandsons under the age of 3, I decided to buy only products not made in China. The internet made it much easier to locate items because most toy and children orientated companies had categorized the manufacturer's country of origin.

Another perk for using the internet for shopping is the ease of comparing prices and finding the best deals. My time is too precious to waste going store to store or spending hours comparing ads in order to find the best bargain. Plus...hard to find products are just a search engine away!

Donna- This is a great store online. It is Landi's Pork Store in Brooklyn. Here is the web address: www.brooklynporkstore.com 718-763-3230 but I order online.

I love the italian sausage with fennel. Also like the sweet italian sausage. Have not tried the hot. Have also tried the broc. robi rope sausage and we liked it but wouldn't order it again right away 'cause we adore the fennel sausage. Oh, also ordered one pork bracciola and one beef bracciola........yum in homemade sauce and will order again.

This place is getting known and with good reason. I've tried some other places online and they were ok.......just okay. This is great!
