Default Its a always a sumptin....

Last night I was amid a Skype chat with a friend when one of the house alarms sounded. Having only been here 10 days, I wondered if it was a weather warning. The awful screech was in fact a fire alarm and after the second bout of high pitched ear splitting wailing, I called 911, Within minutes the street was awash with multitudes of fire trucks, and huge fit young men striding through my house wearing spacesuit like gear and waving hand held heat/emissions screens. Murphys law was well at work, because the noise stopped as they all arrived. Sheepishly I explained what happened, and only my little dog Meg's cowering in the chair convinced them that it had been the alarm, and not the gentle "beep" telling me a new battery was required. The house is brand spanking new, to boot.
Rather shaken, me and Meg went back to bed, only to leap out of it minutes later by an even worse din, as now ALL the alarms were shrieking. Blessedly, they were still blaring when the fire department returned. The problem was traced to one malfunctioning alarm, which was removed (via use of a very long ladder) and the electrician replaced the naughty alarm this morning. To quote Rosanna Danna Danna "Its a always a sumptin"....

If I were Russ, I'd say, "no, it's always sumtin'."

Speaking of alarms...... we are new to TV and the house we purchased has plenty of fire alarms, (not remotely monitored) and a special light in case the power goes out, but it does not have a "burgler alarm". We are not there all the time, we live in High Ridge, MO. Here in High Ridge we wouldn't dream of leaving the house without turning on our remotely monitored alarm system. Do we need to install the same type of system in TV?? I think not.... but just want to see what others are doing.

We live in VA now and have a monitored alarm system. When we move to TV, my wife says she definitely wants to have the same type of system.

Don't think an alarm has any use here, at all!

Cometgirl, hope you'll join the Saint Louis Club. First Wed, Chatham Rec Center, 6:00pm. Beginning again in September. Always lots of fun. Virtually always a "catered" meal running from $5 to $12 a person.
