Have seen two drivers on the wrong side of the road in the last year, even going around the roundabout the wrong way. Lots of people blowing horns. I was hoping they were from London and just forgot where they were.

Crabby drivers won't like either option so do what you want.

Option 1, get into the L lane early = they'll have to slow down for 10 seconds. Obviously this will make them mad. Oh the hardship!

Option 2, you wait until close to your turn, find a gap, and then wedge your car into the L lane. Obviously this will make them mad too because you again forced them to slow down and "cut them off".

So I say do it the way that works for you when you make left hand turns. Personally I like to get into the L lane early.

I say, if you want to get in the lane a half mile before you have to turn left, keep up with the flow of traffic in that lane. On roads like 466 & 466A, it's perfectly natural to use both lanes. Just don't impede the flow of traffic. You might unwittingly cause an accident.

But do you respect the law? If someone becomes a self-appointed speed monitor and enforcer (by driving 35 mph in the left lane) with other vehicles backed up behind the “slow driver” ... that behavior violates the law.

So do you have no respect for those who break any law?…or do you pick and choose among the laws that should be respected and enforced? If yes, how do you pick and choose?

Have you ever been aware of media (TV, radio, newspaper) reports about the police stopping someone who was speeding?…and when they find out the reason they were speeding (imminent birth, imminent death, something else affecting a close family member, etc.) they then provide a police escort (while breaking speed laws) to destination?

By comparison, have you ever been aware of media reports about slow drivers in a left lane who have been stopped by police…and then supported in their effort to enforce the speed law by assisting the individual to drive slow in the left lane? The reason you’ll never see/hear about that is because it doesn’t happen. Attempts to enforce speed laws by driving slowly in the left lane merely cause traffic congestion and create dangerous traffic situations by forcing other motorists to pass on the right. It’s not safe.

The question isn’t whether you respect someone who you feel violates the law, the question is whether you respect the law.

I followed a Sumter County deputy from the intersection at Buena Vista and 466, all the way to the annex. I was in the right lane and he was in the left lane the entire time until he had to change lanes to turn at the annex. Heavy traffic in both lanes. He didn't seem to have a problem with the ones he was following, even when there were openings where they could have moved over. There wasn't anyone doing 30; all were doing 45+, including the deputy. NOTE: He did use his signal to change lanes!

Speed limit on BV and Morse is 35 so driving 30 is actually fairly close to the speed limit.

I have what I believe is a valid concern, and a question, and a suggestion.

The question is: if you have a street-legal converted golf cart, and you're on Morse Boulevard, and you WANT to go only 20mph while the speed limit is 30 or 35...

then are you allowed to drive your street-legal cart in the golf cart lane instead of the main vehicle lanes?

If you are - then - that would be my suggestion to anyone who drives one of those, and doesn't feel they need to go top speed on their vehicle (which is only supposed to hit 25 maximum).

I ask this because of the concern:

I've seen twice now, street-legal golf carts on Morse, between Sumter Landing and 466A. Each time (different vehicles) they were driving in the same lane that normal cars drive in, and each time they were driving under 20MPH. Both times they were causing traffic to back up pretty heavily behind them, and the cars were struggling to bottle-neck into the left lane to pass them.

If you don't plan on even TRYING to go close to the speed limit and you're in a golf car, why not just drive in the golf car lane? Or maybe check your rear view mirror once in awhile and pull over if you see a dozen or more cars backed up behind you.

I get that most people here are retired. But some of us aren't, and would like to get to work on time without having to leave 40 minutes early, just to drive 5 miles from home.
