The wife has a FB account but I don't. Have no use for FB, Twitter, or Tic Toc. I see no benefit in it, and I lose enough brain cells every day as it is to old age.

Maybe we found the person breaking into the Vending Machines all over The Villages. Trying to make up for the losses.

I use Facebook a great deal. It is nice to connect with people from my old street in Reno, Nevada; various college, graduate and law school alumni; co-workers from various places, etc. Often find it is a very small world and one with a very strange sense of humor. First person I connected with from the Reno, Nevada days had moved to Spain and I knew her from when I was 16 and 17 years old.

I want to see all research and input on everything so that I can sort the truth out for myself. The above writer is worried about people who are gullible being influenced by disinformation so wants some censorship. It's people like that that scare me to death: "Smart" people dictating the "truth" to "gullible" people. That's why it's so critical that everybody fight like crazy to keep free speech alive.

Another way of thinking about it is that Facebook is pushing things that they know we're interested in that will keep us on Facebook longer so they can sell more ads. But most of the things that people interact with are negatives in other words will you write about that cute puppy? Are you right words of indignation that the puppy was cooked in a Chinese restaurant?

By the way one of the nice things about Facebook is their groups. Leesburg has one with 20,000 members . I am sure there are golfing groups, and something for every hobby

I dont like FB, I have been in their jail. I feel the leadership of FB is as corrupt as the Jan 6th insurrection.

First of all, "Free speech" doesn't apply to private businesses, such as here on TOTV. As the recent interview of whistleblower Frances Haugen shows, "hate" sells and a lot of people get a detectable (scientifically proved) serotonin rush by getting cranked up by hate. Trying to minimize the hate and division in this country, isn't a bad thing in my mind. I don't think it's OK, for someone to accuse someone else of heinous acts (like saying ("they're child molesters, but just haven't been caught yet") and then giving personal information whereby the extremist/fringe nutcases can be prodded into action. A quick search of 'Pizzagate' - is the perfect example. Facebook profits off hate and that's why it won't change, says whistleblower Frances Haugen | Euronews |
