Knee Dr's who get alot of recommendations are Dr Duke in Ocala and Dr Kerina in Leesburg. Both are hard to schedule but you will most likely get into see their PA.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for your replies. Skip we called your Dr. today and have to wait until Feb 7th...but at least it is a start. We will be leaving to go back to MI at the end of Apr., so hopefully they can do something to get him by until then. Good luck on your surgery!!

Oh PR1234, I hope so too! Wish I knew somebody to suggest who could see him sooner. Hope he's feeling better. I'm sending virtual hugs. (Don't tell my neighbor Z. He claims some peeps don't like hugs.)

I've been seeing Dr. Claudia Thomas of the Tri-County Orthopaedic Center in Leesburg. She gave me a cortisone shot in Sept and it worked almost immediately and lasted until yesterday. It was pretty easy to get an appt only took a few days, so you may want to try her too. They have an office in The Villages also. Her # is 352 326 8115. She is GREAT!! I love her.

Good luck, and I hope he gets relief soon. I know how it hurts.. ugh!

Tri County orthopedics which includes Drs. Thomas and Kerina as mentioned earlier plus other specialist . They are the best in the area. Both my wife, total knee replacement and I, arthoscopic have used tri county. Recommend highly.

Wow, I was able to put 3 quotes in this post... COOL...

I didn't realize they were in the same office, 3Putt... But I do know that the office is very professional and I love working with all of them..

Dr. Thomas told me about the $500 shots and said, let's try cortisone first because it will be covered and it may work, and she was right...

Skip, I'll find out the info on it- I think someone wrote on the forum about it a while ago, I'll do a search. Good luck with the surgery, though...

The name of the it is Synvisc, supposedly it is from chicken combs! We had heard of several people who had it done and raved about it's effectiveness. Didn't seem to do anything for my hubby though
Google it for more info.

They were a series of 3 shots, one week apart for each one.

My doctor gave me cortisone shots in both knees in late September and luckily they're still working. I have much less pain. He said if cortisone didn't work we could try Synvisc, but he warned me it was very expensive and highly controversial.

pr1234:

I feel your husband's pain, (hip busitis for seven months and extremely painful). When one is in a lot of pain the time seems so long unless there is some relief.

I hope your husband gets this problem solved. Best wishes.
