Saw a WWII era plane today flying north at about 1000 feet over CR466 at about 1:00 PM.

Looked like a B17.

B-25 also has H Tail.

B-24 = 4 engines
B-25 = 2 engines

Ad says they use B-24.

There was a plane doing loops near the Polo Fields yesterday at about 3:30 PM. It could have been the P-51. Rather noisy. It was at about 1000 feet.

It is that time of year for all of the airplane / military airplane "fly in's". They start in Florida in the spring and work their way north through the summer.

Big shows in Ft. Myers, Lakeland, Leesburg, Lake City and a REALLY big one in Pensacola.

Must have been great to spot in the sky...lucky you folks that did.

Glad we don't have a "Nagasaki" Village.
Too soon? A bit of dark humor.

There is no greater sound than to hear those B24's engines on the runway powering up to take off. Those huge radial engines make a sound that for history buffs will forever be remembered. It brings a chill to me hearing them and thinking about the war and what those planes and crews accomplished.

Yep, I get the same feeling hearing 40 F111E and EF's take-off in zone 5 heading for Iraq. or 30 B52s and KC135's heading for Gaum.
