Go into your settings, then click on phone. Scroll down to silence unknown callers and toggle the button to green. That should take care of your nuisance calls. Good luck.

Good luck with that idea

That's fine, if you don't need to talk to the person who called. But, if you do, suppose he/she is also screening their calls with voicemail? You will never talk to them.

I haven't done a poll, but I suspect that less than half of the people are willing to let their calls, that are not on their contact list, go to voicemail.

Find a pay phone? Really? I don't think so.

In your, iPhone APPS go to phone then turn on ”Silence Unknown Callers”.
Only callers in your iPhone contacts will ring. Others will be forced to voicemail.

It works very well and effective !

Dana1963 - Your directions say to go to your Apps, but it’s actually your “Settings” then to “Phone” then to “Silence Unknown Callers”. Thank you so very much! We have been inundated with calls recently and this info is a blessing! 😊

100% solution - foolproof.

I have an app on my phone that forces anyone calling me (that is not in my contact list) to press a number in order to be connected. So, for example, if a robocall comes through it is met with "press 7 to connect your call". The challenge number is random and changes all the time. Since the robots can't respond to that prompt, my phone number rings. They don't even get the opportunity to leave me a voice message. Sure, live spammers can get through but that never seems to happen. And, of course, your doctor / contractor / delivery person knows how to press a number in order to complete the call. I haven't received a spam call in over 2 years.

I can't find an app that does that. Can you provide the name of the app?

About 4 years ago my golf cart’s alternator belt shredded, stranding me on the MMP running parallel to 466. Within 10 minutes about 15 other carts stopped and asked if I needed any assistance. Over the years I have helped other people whose carts have broken down (I carry a tow strap in my cart). That’s one of the great things about the Villages, most people won’t hesitate to help out others.

That will work, but many people (like me) won't do it because they don't want to miss important calls from people who are not in their contact list. Suppose your doctor's office or another business calls you from an unknown number? It is not appropriate for everyone.

And so many people don't leave a message even on a legitimate call - they figure you'll see the missed call and call them back. People --- leave a message!

I phone controls those that use them.

Why don't you stop the junk calls yourself? Go to "settings", "phone", turn on "Silence Unknown Callers".

Getting junk texts too? Stop them by going to "settings", "messages", turn on "Filter Unknown Senders".

Pay telephones went away a long time ago! Pay telephones are almost non-existent even at airports! No more telephone booths for Clark Kent to change into Superman! Remember the rotary dial telephones? They went away a long time ago. Remember the hand cranked car windows? Try to find a car today that doesn't have electric windows! Manual transmissions are getting pretty rare too. Soon on the chopping block will be the public libraries. When the books and magazines are digitalized, in 5 to 10 years, most of the public libraries will go away.

Your I phone is spying on you, just like Alexa does.

That is not the way it works. My number has never been in The Villages phone book, but I still get lots of scam calls.
