Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even AFTER DYING. Everyone who believes in me WILL NEVER ever DIE . (John 11:25-26)

With my limited knowledge and from the point of view of actual dollars, I would be inclined to agree, but I suspect a neurosurgeon knows the field a lot better than we do. I have a neurosurgeon friend who is superb in his field which he keeps as limited as possible, seeing himself primarily as a photographer and doing public service work in this area (for which he does not charge, I might add)! I have another friend, also a physician specialist, who urged his daughter not to enter the field. She took his advice and, still wishing to devote herself to a medical career, is now studying in veterinary college. And while most of us don’t know them personally, look at the number of doctors who leave their field to enter politics. There are likely countless reasons why doctors seek an income elsewhere—reasons that we cannot possibly know. And for them, as long as they’re making money, maybe there is more to life than the actual amount of profitability.

There are really some much deeper issues related to this topic.

I doubt many of us can approach the topic without some sort of bias.

There is no doubt that there is no scientific proof, which is the human standard. For that matter, there is not enough anecdotal proof such that you would likely be convinced of a lesser claim. At best, you might come to the conclusion that a negative is difficult to prove (prove something doesn't exist).

If someone claimed they were able to transport them self to another area of our universe and converse with ET in a flash, so quick that, to the observer, they never appeared to leave... would you believe them?

Some of this has to do with people's spiritual and religious belief systems which are based on hope and faith.

BTW all major religions teach or describe some form of life after death.

As is increasingly the case about many questions... you can read a summary on Afterlife - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He was very scientifically oriented in his thinking. He is a brain surgeon, educated at the finest universities and worked at the best hospitals.....and is a professor. He didn't come across as flaky in his book......

Flaky was the "My Redneck Vacation" segment when they all went to AREA 51 and met with the very flaky people who invited them into their home to communicate with the aliens. Now, that is flaky. Not Dr. Alexander.

My comments were not intended to be about him or his book, but about any fantastic claim by anyone.

I have not read the book. I will be getting it from the library.

My comments on religion were just an observation that faith oriented bias might cause some to take the account as "proof".

You are absolutely 100% correct! Enough said :-)

A friend of mine had 2 experiences and came back to life on the operating table, God (Jesus) told her she had to go back, her children and husband needed her.

Is there a club/group in TV that shares near-death experiences? When I say near death I am referencing an out of body experience while one is 'dead'.......like what I had when I had my heart attack and 'died' in my living room and had to be 'paddled' to start my heart again.

AMEN! It's just trading addresses. His world for this.

"Out of the body is present with the Lord." 2 Cor 5:8.

Amen! People who are curious should read all the true accounts of those who've died and gone to heaven (and hell) and then returned to their bodies to tell others what happens after their spirits leave their bodies. The Bible tells us the whole truth from God. :-)

An old girlfriend of mine had always called me at 11 o'clock on the day of my birthday. We dated for 7 years (we were between 19-26) and then went our separate ways. We never lost our feelings for each other and although she was now married and had two kids of her own, she still made that phone call every year (despite her husbands disapproval) . When cancer took over her body at 40 years old, I visited her on her death bed. She told me then, "No matter what happens, I'll call you on your birthday...I promise"
Two months later, on my birthday on February 4th I got a phone call at exactly 11 o'clock. When I picked up the receiver the phone was full opf static before the call went dead. Whoever called never make a return call. (There was no caller ID in those days) Could it have been a wrong number or could it have been...... WE will never know, but although not a spiritual person I tend to lean toward the belief that it was her calling. I wrote a story in my writing college class about the experience and titled the story "A Call from Heaven." I got an A Plus on the story and hope to have it published with a collection of other stories some day.

I sent it to her brother and sister who never lost contact with me despite us going separate ways almost 40 years ago. They both cried after reading it.

Great stuff Senior Citizen. Which only verifies what I always (wanted to) believe, even though most people don't think it possible. I'd love to send you "Call from Heaven". Please send me a pm with your email address. Thanks for confirming I am not nuts.
