I like detective shows and such, but I am open to any type of series if it's interesting enough. To give you a clue to my tastes, in the past I've liked Monk, The Mentalist, some NCIS (the original is all I've seen), sitcoms and various other types of shows. I rarely get hooked on pure drama. Monk and The Mentalist which I mentioned above had something in common...very good detective plots with really fun main characters and a humorous slant in every episode.

Okay, I'm open to suggestions. Again, I will consider any show if it's good.

New:
The Rookie
Bull
Blue Bloods
Chicago PD..(can get rough)

Older cop shows
Castle
Closer
Major Crimes

For light murder movies I like the Hallmark Murder Mystery. There are about six different series to watch like Murder She Bake, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries and Chronicle Mysteries

We watch most of the shows mentioned but “Queen of the South” was really good too. This last year we watched reruns of Game. Of Thrones and The Sopranos and Breaking Bad and Hell on Wheels and Sons of Anarchy and Dexter to name a few. They were just like new again because we forget so much of how the story went.

Try Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. New season will be starting soon but you may have time to watch the first 3 seasons ( could be 4).

So many good suggestions but only one mention of Blue Bloods. Such a GREAT NYC Detective/Police drama! Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlbery, Bridget Moynahan, etc. Ran for 11 seasons, started in 2010. This one might be right up your alley.

For detective shows, I highly recommend Broadchurch, and English show that takes you through an entire season with one case. For regular series, The Kominsky Method, Schitts Creek, and Doc Martin are comedies and all hysterical. Another English detective series that is good is Grantchester. For network series, we like Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck.

Netflix Sinners, Three different stories about 8 episodes each. We weren't sure we were going to stay with it, but at one point it struck us as great psycological crime story. We are in the middle of the second story.
