Parents of USA coach Jill Ellis live in The Villages.

US women are definitely...the best in the world.

In fact, they are so deep that they may very well be...the second best team also.

I understand that the Daily Sun may have a piece on the Ellis family in tomorrow's edition.

Significant because soccer in this country is not a national sport like baseball and football.

So true! When my children were school age in the mid 1970s - 1980s soccer was just getting started through parent groups' efforts. Hard to find a coach who knew anything about it back then.

In Europe during the FIFA World Cup most towns have huge television screens set up in their town squares and the games are on TVs in buildings wherever one goes. Europeans are fanatically passionate about it whereas we are rather ho-hum so the fact that the USA women's team did so incredibly well is phenomenal!

We removed about 20 off topic posts that strayed into political or personal attacks and left the very few on topic posts that congratulated the whole TEAM on their TEAM world championship.
