MAD Magazine closing shop
This is sad news in a nostalgic sort of way. MAD magazine after 67 years is no longer producing new material after the August issue. I guess I'm part of the problem as I haven't read an issue in like 50 years. But I have fond memories. I wanted to list squamish as one of my sports on my college application but my advisor thought it wouldn't be a best option.

Darn I am getting old. Seems like just yesterday I was sitting in Morgan's Drug Store reading these.

Wow. I did not realize that it was still around. I also watched the TV show. So, did one of the spys come out on top in the end?

The internet going to kill majority of paper trails, newspapers, magazines, paperback books. Just the way it going to be. Last time I even looked at or brought magazines was before internet took off around 1998. I had ritual getting the autotrader, fishing and billiards digest, and tennis magazine. NO need now to even glance magazine rack. Now, there absolutely nothing you can’t find in internet and YouTube. You can now learn in minutes what use to take days, weeks or months just using YouTube.

I absolutely loved reading every single page in MAD in high school and could hardly wait until the next issue came out. RIP AEN.

Alfred E. Newman, RIP. I regularly listen to Leo Laporte’s Podcasts “TechGuyLabs” on the weekend a weekly guest on his show is Dick DeBartolo a long time writer for MAD. Below is the quote I just read on the TechGuyLabs web site.
Episode 1606 The news of Mad Magazine ceasing publication of new content was stunning, especially since Dick Debartolo learned third hand. It was stunning. But they are going to be publishing "best of" issues moving forward. but really, how long can that last? Dick says that he's been in every issue for 53 years, and realizing it's the end of the road brought him to tears. But even more of a tear jerker were the online tributes that Dick has been reading about how beloved Mad Magazine was. Who's to blame? Leo says it's AT&T. They bought DC and Warners and closed down their offices a year and a half ago. Dick says that print is dying, and it's a large part of why Mad is going away. But more so, the world is a parody now. Satire has been diluted. Everyone is a court chester.
