Marist College Alumni
Are there any alumni in TV? I graduated in December 1969.
TV is a far cry from Poughkeepsie, NY! |

Re: Marist College Alumni
Not alum, but live right across the river from Poughkeepsie (Gardiner) except when we're at our place in TV/Village of Belvedere (where we're heading in a few days!). My wife is a SUNY New Paltz grad; I'm a CCNY person myself. When it comes to TV, the world always seems small!

Re: Marist College Alumni
Sidney Lanier,
I lived in the Mid-Hudson Valley for five years while attending Marist. My initial two years I lived at the Marist Brothers Novitiate in Esopus, and then moved to the campus in Poughkeepsie to finish my degree. I did my student teaching at the junior/senior high school in Highland. The valley surely is a beautiful area, especially in contrast to my growing up down in NYC. |

Re: Marist College Alumni
Where did you teach after student teaching? We know the Marist Brothers Novitiate; talk about a beautiful spot overlooking the Hudson! I too grew up in New York City, though must say that the NYC that I grew up in doesn't exist anymore.... My wife lived in the area back in the '60s attending SUNY New Paltz; we moved to the Mid-Hudson together in the '70s. (So many SUNY New Paltz grads found jobs and stayed in the area.) The view from our home can be seen in some of the pics at <http://home.hvc.rr.com/smhp>, which is one of the things that makes it hard for my wife in TV with the houses so close together. Still, life goes on (gratefully...)!

Re: Marist College Alumni
After my stint student teaching in Highland, I moved to Hartford, Connecticut. Over the next 37.5 years I worked in every type and size public school in Connecticut. I taught in Newington (5 mo.), Avon (16 yr.), Hartford (10 yr.), Washington Depot (2 yr.), Plainville (5 mo.); I worked as assitant principal in Falls Village (3 yr.), and I finished my career in Storrs (6 yr.).
I was very fortunate to have enjoyed very interesting and rewarding experiences throughout my career. I grew up in Flushing, NY near Shea Stadium. |

I went to New Paltz for a semester in 1971. Quite an interesting environment!
