Say what?
You do understand don't you, that an employer doesn't need a legal verdict to terminate an employee if they feel they have credible reports...of blatant violations of their own rules of conduct? |

...EXCELLENT POST!.... Maybe the winds of real change...are starting to blow. For too long, all too many men and women have just accepted disgusting behavior like this while hiding behind an attitude of... "well, men are like that and we just need to accept it." As the proud father of a daughter and two sons...they have all been taught differently. Many companies, including Fox and CBS, should be complimented for their willingness to take decisive action...even when it hurts their fiscal bottom line. As for politicians, it's not quite as easy to just fire them for the same things, but decent Americans need to immediately QUIT MAKING EXCUSES for these men (and potentially some women)...based on who they like or what party they belong to. Have there been women who have made false accusations? Of course there have been. Are there 100 of times more incidents where women have stayed silent, because they saw how other women were attacked and savaged for speaking up? Oh yeah...you can take that to the bank. I guess what surprises me the most, are the women who attack the actual victims and stick up for the harassers...based solely on their own bias'. Anyway, as I mentioned above, I hope this is the beginning of the end for the acceptance of this behavior...REGARDLESS of how much the person doing it is liked. Given certain recent situations where the person has not only not suffered the consequences, but is still popular with a certain demographic...I'm still ambivalent on whether that will actually happen though. |

CNM, I totally agree. I want there to be professional behavior at work. I want sexual harassment to stop. I want it to be brought out in the open so that an individual feels free to say that behavior is not acceptable. However, I don’t want to see careers destroyed, marriages hurt, families completely humiliated because of bad behavior that was considered semi-acceptable at the time it was committed. Sexual predators, rapists, child molesters, stalkers — go get ‘em. Lock ‘me up and throw away the key. For the others, let them know their behavior will no longer be tolerated and any bad act from henceforth will be grounds for immediate termination, prosecution, public humiliation and civil lawsuits. I do believe in fair warnings.

NBC has known about Lauer’s behavior for years.
When the ratings were great they ignored it. It doesn’t help his case that he had a bad reputation which makes it easy to believe the charges. I have to believe that NBC must have a strong case to fire him. The bottom line is that the rich and famous have an enormous sense of entitlement.

Matt Lauer has always been a dirtbag IMHO. He tried to do a number on Bill O'Reilly in an interview about the allegations against Bill. Isn't Karma wonderful?

Funny you mention this.............I never say the interview, but ABC just showed a segment of it. Matt was sitting pretty high and mighty.

Not that anyone was affected by it in the least, but the Today Show and Matt Lauer lost one viewer (me) when they dismissed Ann Curry.

Let's not forget, we are all sinners.
We are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against God in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. I pray for all. |

They know who's good & bad, too. Maybe Inappropriate Behavior dogs should be stationed in workplaces.
