Thanks to all who have commented and shared stories about your family’s and your service, and your losses. I think that this is obviously a very special year to remember why they fought.

Cool story but sad ending.

My dad broke his leg in training 2 weeks before his unit got shipped to Iwo Jima.

I might not exist if that hadn't happened.
