9:47 PM - had to go look again. Smaller looking moon (still somewhat larger than normal) but still very bright at about 30 degrees above Eastern horizon. Still no clouds - sorry Tony.

Not too many years ago I saw a moon during a 10 mile drive to my home that I swear was considerably larger that what I saw last night. I saw it twice last night, once just after it got dark and again about an hour or more later. The night I saw that huge moon I had to think that it probably had something to do with atmosphere conditions that magnified the view. And for those who may be thinking what I think they may be thinking... NO, I wasn't standing with my back to a mirror and twisted part way around to look into the mirror while I........:22yikes:

We flew from St. Thomas to NY JFK last night, and the moon over the ocean was simply spectacular. I've never seen it so bright, and it seemed to be reflecting off the water as far as the eye can see.

I guess Michael did quite a moon walk last night.

We were at the polo grounds just before the moon rose to walk our dogs. There were about a hundred people there waiting for the moon. Also there was the drumming circle group with about 45 or so members drumming away. When the moon made an appearance, the drummers all stood while continuing to drum. Very memorable!

I'm so sad I missed it! I forgot and was looking forward to it... 31000 miles closer to Earth. I guess we will have to wait for the next one in 2029!
