Default Bacteria eats plastic

Let's see, bacteria can eat oil and that was a big help in cleaning up the oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico. And because plastics are usually oil based products, bacteria can eat plastic. This fact was stated in the book "Missing Microbes".

So perhaps it's not so bad to put plastic in with the garbage.
