Someone is probably going to boo and hiss me for hiss for this but not one of my fave groups. Was much more into Janis and Jimi than the Beach Boys.

"Their Hearts Were Full of Spring", by The Four Freshmen. One of the reasons The Beach Boys became successful was by copying the Freshmen harmony.

Re: New Game -- Name that Artist

It was "something Melvin, or Melvin something" and the Blue Notes sometime in the early 70's. ere is another oldie but goodie.

You are always in my heart
Even though you're far away
I can hear the music of the song I sang to you
You are always in my heart

l2 -- Dino!

Herman Melvin and the Blue Notes -- great Philly soul group (Teddy Pendergrass was a member). THANK YOU!!! Simply Red also did this song (had to go through about 500 CDs to find that version -- yes, my CDs are in alphabetical order).

He might have done it at some point, but sorry, it was Dean Martin

Re: New Game -- Name that Artist

I forgot to post a new song. This one is probably a toughie, so I'll give some hints. This was written by Margaret Roche but not the Roches' version. The singer is a solo artist, female. Probably jazz/folk genre best describes her.

One in Louisiana
one who travels around
one of 'em mainly stays in heart-throb town

I am not their main concern
they are lonely too
I am just an arrow passing through

When they look into my eyes
I know what to do

English your right. Guess Glen was before my time ;D whereas Dean was during it. Should have known though, as most of Dean's stuff was a remake of someone else's stuff. Will work on your post now.

English, I hope that yours is Linda Ronstadt's version of "You're No Good," since she's the only artist I can remember off the top of my head although many have done this son.

Think I'm going to have ask people about yours. And good luck on getting mine above (11:09 am post).

Re: New Game -- Name that Artist

No to the Roches. Read my comments carefully. I said Roches wrote the song but this version is not by them. But very good on getting the title of the song! Thought it would be a tad harder than that. :D

Re: New Game -- Name that Artist

Yours is Boston? That's what my neighbor said, anyway. (And, yes, you can ask friends and neighbors, just no puter searches for titles!)

Yes to Phoebe.

Okay, here's mine:

Heavenly widened roses
Seem to whisper to me
When you smile
Heavenly widened roses
Seem to whisper to me
When you smile

Have never seen Natural Born Killers, so had to look up the soundtrack. It is on there -- even by the group I'm thinking of. This version is very bluesy. Another artist made it more of a slow rock.

Re: New Game -- Name that Artist

Lou Reed. I love the Cowboy Junkies. The female lead singer has a remarkable voice. (Just don't see them live -- she has zero stage presence.)

Okay, English, your turn for a song. :-)
