Everything is encrypted now. Scanner won't work except for dome side channels.

There some aps you can get for your phone that will let you hear police reports, BUT, I have also seen reports that these apps may have some malicious code, so I do not use them. Pulse Point will tell you when police, FD, ambulance services are sent out and the location of the incident. The days of being able to listen in are long gone.

that's too bad we can't listen. I would imagine something will come out, I think it is in big demand. even off duty police and other first responders have a need for it... I can't imagine they can't hear what's going on........maybe its a secret

This is a copy and paste from some people who know much more than me.

most all of them are p25, encryption is an option.
They are trunked, which means that there is a control frequency and the radios jump to open frequencies assigned by the control frequency. That's what makes following radio traffic difficult. You have to monitor the control frequency so you can follow the data.
If it's encrypted you need the key, or you have to brute force it.
listening to encrypted public radio communications is now illegal in the united states.
but it's also illegal for amateur radio communications to be encrypted.
once again, rules for the peasants and the government are different.

Hello -
If you are interested in listening to active police radio transmissions, search google as many police departments will display current calls for service holding. Although most police department radio transmissions are encrypted and use the computer assisted dispatch system, many police departments still provide real time online information regarding calls for assistance.

Ever since a politic—-n got caught by Someone scanning cell phones, no citizen can use scanner to eve drop on private conversations ( I have scanner it’s no longer pickup anything) just like you can’t record conversations with person’s consent, but I can video with cell phone📱 without the party consent. I find that strange?

I have no idea of the legality or if these are still available, but some of the large scanner companies were supposedly selling scanners that would track the conversations (trunked radios) and supposedly as also decrypt the transmissions. You will have to do your own investigations, and be aware that what works today may not work tomorrow if the encryption is changed.

I don't think I'd find it interesting to listen to police calls, but then again I really liked watching Live P.D.

I have been reading your old posts. I thought you were a guy. You are a woman. Not that it matters.
