Default Old Expired Prescriptions

Is there any place in the Brownwood Area that takes old prescriptions and dispose them properly?

A lot of PD's do. You could check with Wildwood P.D. or Sumter Co. Sheriffs Dept. Also some Walgreen Drug Stores do also.

Like the Walgreens drug store near the TV hospital, it's not near Brownwood but the lobby of the Lady Lake P.D. has a drop box for unwanted drugs. One could stop next time on the way to Sam's Club. (next door)

Fruitland Park PD has one in the lobby AT City Hall/P.D. It's over by Rose Plantation behind new library.

Any Walgreens should have a locked box by the pharmacy to dispose of drugs

Go to the FDA website. Some are flushable but many are not. You can put the tablets in a sealable bag. Add a bit of water with kitty litter, saw dust or dirt. Seal the bag and dispose in the trash. I recently did this with multiple hospice medications.

I agree that they should, but they don't. The only Walgreens in The Villages that has a prescription drop box is the one on Bella Cruz near the hospital.

In the state of FL, you can dispose of old meds at home. If the medication is a pill, put enough water into the vile to cover the meds, put the cover on and let the pills dissolve then throw in the trash. If its a capsule, also dissolve them and toss in the trash, or empty the capsules into the vile, cover with water to dissolve, then toss. If its a liquid, dilute it in enough water and then toss.
