Which is EXACTLY the point Bucco was making in his last sentence...in Post #39.

Facts matter...so thank you.
I can't recall, and neither can my husband anything happening like this in Columbus, Ohio when we were young. This was just reported;

Waffle House shooting leaves 4 dead, several injured; gunman sought

It adds to an element of unease about life in general that most assuredly is up there in my mind.

Allowing anyone or anything except facts you KNOW to instill fear is something to "fear"

That is why we try to live away from high crime areas, try to associate with people who are law abiding and ethical. Associate with people whose religion does not mention killing people of other religions if they can't convert them and why we are or were justifiably afraid of groups of people who attacked this country at the time. At one time people were afraid of Germans, all of them and Japanese, all of them. I am of German heritage, I remember Schiller Park in Columbus having it's name changed to City Park for a time. We are human and we have fear as a legitimate emotion that keeps us alive. Many fears turn out to be unwarranted that is true.

I very much believe in the scientific method to solve problems, and I also believe in my gut reaction. I am a mother and it has served me well.

I think you are missing my point, but that is ok.

There are things to fear, but my life will not be dictated or filled with fear generated with hateful words, and NO FACTS TO SUPPORT. If I am told to fear, I check it out totally and in detail and never simply accept anyone else's word and also check out the motivation for someone telling me that I should fear.

I control my life, not any other person. In my lifetime I have never had fear based on someone else telling me to be afraid, nor on non factual generalities.

going to stop here and ask if you read the NY papers. STUFF happens that will not allow me to fear folks because of how they dress or look. THAT is un American, unfounded, and frankly deprives me of making my own decisions based on facts.

Logically, it should be over when argument devolves into contradiction.
