We also travel w our dog, Merlin. We stop at the first rest area coming into any state and get the motel discount books. They will list pet friendly places and have great rates too. If you are looking for a pet friendly place in TV, I'd recommend Holiday Express at Spanish Springs.

Never stayed at a Residence Inn that I didn't like........always very clean and also has a fully equiped kitchen ...... which is nice if your dog has a "special diet" that you need to prepare.......(or your little dog wakes you up in the middle of night with a craving for macroni and cheese!)
