People who don't know how to merge i.e. take turns. Drivers who think you should guess when they'll turn or who break before using a turn signal. Hey give us a clue please. And golf carts that drive so close to or over the line into the car lane. Yikes!!

Cedwards38 07-09-2015 09:09 PM

(1) People who are mean.
(2) People who are selfish.
(3) People who are inconsiderate.
(4) And especially people who talk during movies as if they were sitting at home in front of their television. Friends, I don't need or want to listen to your running commentary. I'll figure it out on my own. And if you have to ask your partner or buddy questions about what is happening, then wait for Netflix or go see a Disney movie.

People who post items for sale on this site but do not give the price.

CarolSells 07-09-2015 09:51 PM

I cringe when I see the misuse of the words sell and sale as in, "i'm looking for a RESELL house in TV".

Or, "Can you ADVICE me as to when one might be on the market"?

Long time residents who say, "Morris Blvd.".

People who when typing a message use the expression y'all instead of you. It just seems a bit pretentious. You don't see people from the Bronx typing in youse.

pakirk 07-10-2015 03:33 AM

People in cars that believe they have to beat the golf cart to a merge point. They believe because the sign states 'carts merge with cars' that it really means 'carts YIELD to cars. Dangerous situation, especially when people in cars blow horns in an attempt to keep carts from merging.

My pet peeve is people who hold up a long line at the grocery store picking the exact change, to the penny, out of their change purses.
It's not really a peeve, but what about people who still whip out the old checkbook? And they never seem to start writing it out in advance!

But checkout line roulette has always been a fun game for me. Size up the items, the people, and any visible coupons. Pick a line then compare my progress to those in other lines. I take my own bag and will sometimes pack the items myself to help get me to the finish line first. :)

I'm one of those folks. It's because I type the same way I talk. Sorry.

So yesterday we went and picked up a few things at Sam's Club. My first pet peeve is that Sam's treats all of their customers as theft suspects. I hate that I have to wait in line for an employee to pretend to check the amount of items in my basket against my receipt. One of these days, I am just going to go around the line and not show my receipt and see what happens. I believe that they have no recourse except to come out to the parking lot and accuse me of stealing something, in which case I could tell them to call the police. Since they have no probable cause to stop me, I don't believe that they would even bother to stop me. I don't believe that the would call the police nor do I believe that the police would respond.

The second thing is a huge pet peeve of mine. Once we finally get "frisked" by the employee, we are about to go through the door to go on with our day and a guy in front of the person in front of us has stopped dead in his tracks just outside the door and is checking his receipt, making it impossible for the people behind him to get through the door.
People seem to have no idea of their surroundings. This guy was clueless that there were people behind him.
This is really dangerous when people do it at the bottom or top of an escalator. I've had it happen to me many times.
Are people really this dense?

Very tempting to just leave, they won't call the police but they would probably revoke your membership. In that vein, they do the same thing at BJs in NY---except here the checker is an 80 year old patient whom I have literally saved his life three times. yet he is obligated to check each item, like I'm trying to steal a box of crackers.
The people who stop dead in their tracks are annoying, as are the people who park their carts side by side and have a conversation in the middle of the aisle. Better yet are the drivers who stop in the middle of the road to have a conversation---a phenomenon no longer confined to Brooklyn. In the old days, a honk of the horn would only buy you an obscene gesture and continued talking, today I'd be afraid of eating a bullet.
But most annoying to me is the 300 pound person who gets on the 10 item express line with 35 items, then whips out an EBT card to buy their cookies and potato chips. Then she pulls out a checkbook to pay for the cigarettes, alcohol and lottery tickets, but wants cash back necessitating a manager call. At the same time her 6 kids are running wild touching everything, and the 300 pound twin behind me keeps bumping her cart into my rear end. Someday that person behind me might end up with her entire cart dumped over her head, except that would mean I would have to pay for her food twice.

I'm with you on that. How about the people who call 'Buena Vista Blvd." - "Bona Vista."???!!! It isn't 'Bona'. It's a Spanish word, the first syllable rhymes with 'sway'. I'm from S. Fl., & learned a little bit of Spanish from my Cuban buddies over the years. My sister worked in the Miami office of unemployment for more than 25 yrs. & 90% of her peers were Cuban, & my sis is virtually fluent in Spanish. 😎

It just seems to me that there are those that pay for their food, and those that have others pay for their food. I may be jaded, but I find the latter group tends to make the worst food choices and cause the most disruption on the check out lines, especially the express lines. And I am not referring to hard working people temporarily falling on hard times, I'm only referring to those that make a career of it.

And how do you tell the difference?

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 07-10-2015 02:40 PM

People who get in the left hand lane and drive the speed limit or lower and have
a train of cars following them.

This creates dangerous situations as other drivers now pull into the right hand lane to go around them and then move back into the left hand lane where they belong.

If you are in the left hand lane and there is no on in front of you and someone behind you, MOVE OVER!. It's easy, it doesn't cost you anything and it doesn't hurt.

cmj1210 07-10-2015 02:46 PM

Loud obnoxious people holding loud conversations in public thinking they are the only people around. When they are in restaurants it's the absolute worst. No respect.

Isn't the speed limit the same for both lanes? The left lane is no longer a passing lane. Can you imagine the traffic jams if everyone was in the right lane except when passing?

It's against the law to hold up faster traffic...even if you are driving the speed limit.

That's correct. And it's not up to you to govern the speed of traffic by driving the speed limit in the left-hand lane and holding up traffic behind you. That's law enforcement's job. Keep right except to pass is the law when there's only two lanes going in your direction.

Agree completely. You cannot prevent others from passing by even if you know they are exceeding the speed limit. Not your job as a driver.

Villager Joyce 07-10-2015 04:06 PM

Ouch. Guess that pushed a bunch of buttons Of a bunch of it's all about ME people. Do you think everyone who drives in the left lane is doing it to keep you from speeding or to raise your blood pressure. How long do you stay in the left lane? Do you pass Each car one by one, returning to the right lane after each car? I guarantee you None of you do.

It's only dangerous because some people, other than those that observe the speed limit, apparently think thAt lane is for them to do as they please. Obey the laws and it isn't dangerous.

We agree. The situation described above was that of a line of cars being held up by a driver who just stayed in the passing lane. That is illegal.

Because I like you and respect you, I'm going to let this go. You are right about the OP.

queasy27 07-10-2015 04:57 PM

I was in a multi-cart pileup today while walking into Walmart. The woman pushing a cart in front of me stopped short -- taking a moment to reminisce about the lovely corsage she got for her high school prom, I assume -- and I pulled up behind her. The person behind me ran the wheel of her cart up my heel and a person to the right had to quickly side step out of the way.

Don't stop in the middle of moving foot traffic, people! Especially when exiting an escalator, because the people behind will be automatically carried into your posterior.

Pet Peeves

VJ, I Also respect you. But I'm not sure where you're coming from on this issue. I can guarantee you that people who understand and obey the law DO go back to the right lane after making a pass, unless they are approaching a slower vehicle in the right lane that will they overcome very quickly.

Staying in the right lane except to pass is not the radical, difficult process you're trying to describe it as. It is the correct, LEGAL way to drive.

Avista 07-10-2015 06:29 PM

My pet peeve is when some talks about a political person or party in a negative context assumng the people to whom he is talking all have the same negative feelings he has.
