Yep, just hit the middle of the tube firm (but not overdo it) on the counter top edge like mom and gram-ma always did..... never pulled any string, tape, thread.... it "pops" open in the middle, and very easy to just "undo" the whole tube then... even the metal bottoms come off !

So true so true.... if all else fails, the ones Publix bakery sells are actually pretty tender and with good (not dry flour) taste.
