Sounds like a few nerves were touched - sorry, the post was mostly tongue in cheek.

I'll be topside, having a pina colada and enjoying life because I'm one of those people who believe in science and know the sky isn't falling - while the conspiracy nutjobs are stuck in their 50-year bunkers eating MREs.

Today I saw an article about a Yacht Liner, 730 feet, with 39 apartments ($11 million ea), bars, clubs, etc, etc., etc. A floating city, for the Richie Rich's.

So, the thought that comes to my mind, when the Apocolypse does come - climate change, war, pandemic, alien invasion, or whatever they are concerned with that wipes out the common rabble - who are the rich survivers going to exploit?
Are you just asking this out of boredom or do you really worry about this stuff at this point in your life?

Just looking for ways to stir the pot without politics - LOL

I guess it is boredom sort of, and testing the waters to see what people here like to talk about. The Metal band Disturbed thread did okay...

This particular one was prompted by an article about the Yacht Liner with apartments for $11 Million each. And thinking what a different world some people live in where they spend $11M on an apartment they might use a couple times a year - maybe.

There are a lot of people who partially justify their lack of concern of the impact of climate change, on their personal belief that the apocalypse will happen soon anyway. I had an otherwise normal supervisor in the early 80's whose entire small church, in a small town, headed for the hills based on their belief that the world would be ending on a certain date. The mistake he made was broadcasting it and trying to convince everyone else, so when he eventually came back to work - he didn't want to talk about it. lol

I doubt anyone here will be around to wonder about the rich by the time the END comes. Although, I have heard that a major solar flare will damage half our world in the next five years. Better stock up on toilet paper...........

News flash, regardless of what happens or how much money person has the end is near and there NOTHING you can do about it.

Actually, the whole thread is political and class warfare. But nothing new---google "Derinkuyu"
But to whet your appetite:

"The underground city of Derinkuyu, even though located under the surface, was connected with the world. This ancient city was connected to other underground settlements through a series of tunnels.

Underground Derinkuyu was a fully working community; having specific sections underground such as shops, communal rooms, wells, tombs, arsenals, apartments, religious buildings and escape routes. People living in underground Derinkuyu had everything they needed to live life properly.

Underground Derinkuyu is believed to have been capable of offering proper living conditions to around 50,000 people."

No one knows for sure who built it, how, or when, and we would have trouble building today with our modern technology, if we could at all. And interestingly, one of the theories on WHY it was built was "climate change"

It is so true that way you're looking to live not only in The Villages and all the surrounding communities. Don't forget the bubble only exists in your mind. We're lucky to be alive, we are lucky to be retired, we are lucky to have such wonderful children, and for most of us to have decent health

As we learned in the last year, stock pile alcohol and toilet paper. Or, as the man said to the news reporter in Mississippi after hurricane Ivan, we need food down here, I've been drinking beer and eating potato chips for two weeks.

Heck, I'm so rich I can afford to live in a place where the closest thing to work I ever have to do is to drive a little car through a park and get out every now and then to whack a ball with a stick! But I bet Mr. Massey is a heck of a lot richer than me. Even the guy he pays to ride the mower is richer than 99.9% of the people who have ever been born on this planet

Personal experience would seem to indicate that capitalism continues to function just fine, even when there's no-one left but rich folks. In fact, if anything, it seems to work better when there's no socialists trying to force everyone to be equally destitute.
