REPORTS AND INPUT

b. County Administrator
Animal Services Monthly Report-August 2017 (For Information Only)
Documents: SCAS_AUG.pdf
Here's how your taxpayer funded facility is being (mis)managed for the month of August, 2017 compared to their next door neighbor whose government officials listened to concerns from the people they represent, hired a consultant who is one of the preeminent national experts in the field of shelter reform, gathered information, took an interest in the No Kill Equation, and publicly announced last fall that on January 15th, 2017, Lake County Florida was transitioning to a no kill community. The positive results have been overwhelming. Lake County Animal Services is the largest open-admission animal control shelter to successfully transition to No Kill literally overnight, resulting in one of the largest, fastest and most inspiring transitions to No Kill that those in the No Kill community have ever seen.
Note to county administrator Arnold and commissioners Gilpin, Butler, Burgess, Breeden, and Printz - If it's already been done, it's not impossible. With the right leadership, Sumter could and should do the same.

Sumter County Animal Services Monthly Report, August, 2017:

Lake County Animal Services Monthly Report, August, 2017:

** Lake County provides medical care to their sick and injured dogs, allowing them to live out their lives with an adoptive family. They do not kill them.
One dog euthanized due to testing positive for rabies

If you feel your tax dollars should be spent to save lives rather than needlessly take them, you are invited to attend the next BOCC meeting this Tuesday. Details/location are provided above. If you wish to speak before the Board, you are allowed five minutes. Please keep all comments factual, using common courtesy (as difficult as it may be) and tact during your presentation. Thanks for being the voice for Sumter's locked up homeless companion animals.
These folks would like to hear from you:
