It depends on who you want to believe...a scientist who’s demonstrated knowledge and experience in this area or the ordinary man or woman on the street.

By the way, this is a very flawed survey as the options are either no mask, always mask, or don't care. There is a lot of grey area in-between these options that many people practice in reality.

The poll is worded to sway it toward the creators opinion. That is the problem with polls and surveys, it takes a very experienced creator to do them in a way that the result is not influenced in some manner.

Sure we don't have all the facts down but isn't it obvious that other countries are doing better. So why can't we? Why can't we help each other, sacrifice just like our grandparents did during world wars or the depression. Can't we as a society do better? It's sad - the pandemic is showing how immature we are to the rest of the world.

Maybe when the gov't follows/enforces their own mandates? They prohibit large gatherings such as church, sporting events, funerals, etc. and allow protests, rioting, and a massive funeral for John Lewis, etc.

This country was founded on individual rights and freedoms and a lot of people, me included, don't like the slow erosion of them. Pretty soon, we'll be under a mask mandate during flu season. Then, we'll be under a permanent mask mandate when shopping in stores and so on.

How about older people who've lived a full life sacrifice themselves and set an example for future generations that our freedoms and liberties are precious and worth dying for just like those who founded this nation and subsequent generations that sacrificed for freedom along the way?

Wear masks indoors and mandate it by not allowing people indoors who do not wear a mask. Stores should be policing that, and they are up North in Illinois, so that is NOT impossible. Masks outdoors should be optional. However, social distance and avoid large groups. And wash hands and face frequently. That's what all the reliable medical experts are saying. Why is this so difficult? That is why the US is lagging behind almost every other country in the world.

Yet "they" are letting prisoners out of jails due to COVID. IF the masks work so well, then why not keep them there with a mask mandate?? Another thought....China and other Asian countries wear masks all the time....if they worked so good then why all the deaths and cases of COVID there? Curious thoughts........

THANK YOU Mod! My belief is just that. If a Thread, in general, is informative, interesting, and 'well attended' - let it live. Remove offensive posts. AND I'm ALL FOR a WARNING system for posters who repeat posting offensive etc. AND 30-day or so penalty, like 3-strikes OUT system. There are so many TVers who so enjoy our Forum, and generally the Mod's who monitor and their actions. Thank you,

I worked in dentistry for 40 years! Masks should NOT be worn for more than a couple of hours. It can protect from certain things but not all things, including viruses! We wore them because we were inches from peoples faces. If we sneezed or coughed, we couldn’t use our hands to cover our faces, as we had gloves on. The patient didn’t wear makes!!!! Same in surgery, patients , Dr wears mask , not patient. And when the patient is gone, we removed our masks. Anything that the patient may have had remains in the air!

We've always prided ourselves as being a country of freedom. It is a slippery slope!

Yes! Why maybe next we would be required to wear a seat belt! Wow, that slope be slippery.

We have always had folks rebel when new “safeguards” began. “Slippery slope” has been cited for decades but has not materialized. Helmets for motorcycle riders was a big one. Nothing new followed that. In fact bikers are no longer required to wear helmets.

There is no slippery slope, only what seems to be necessary at the time.

Maryland - Hotline to enforce their Mask Mandate. "appropriate enforcement authority will be mobilized, if necessary". The release reads that any individual found violating Gov. Hogan’s order “could be charged with a violation of that order, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail, a $5,000 fine, or both.”

Maryland opens statewide hotline to report potential coronavirus distancing violations

Maryland has opened a statewide hotline to report potential violations of executive orders meant to stem the spread of COVID-19, contrasting Gov. Larry Hogan’s previous statements urging local jurisdictions to take more control over enforcing the orders.

In a release, the state said the toll-free “COVID Prevention Line” is a joint effort between Maryland’s Emergency Management Agency, Department of Health and State Police to respond to concerns residents may have about people not exercising proper social distancing or otherwise not taking necessary precautions in light of the pandemic.

The state wrote in its release the hotline is “to facilitate a statewide communication process for citizens to report concerns about potential situations where precautions are being ignored that will prompt follow-up by local health officials and, if necessary, law enforcement officials.”

The hotline — which can be reached by calling 1-833-979-2266 or by sending an email to prevent.covid@maryland.gov — is open 24 hours a day and callers can remain anonymous, the release reads.

While the state has created a centralized communications hub to help field complaints, Hogan had previously placed the onus on local and county leaders to enforce public health orders.

Last month, as Hogan required people over the age of 5 years old to wear masks inside public buildings, the governor said that he would not commit state resources, such as state law enforcement officers, to help local governments in their enforcement.

“I hope people would just do their jobs,” Hogan said at the time.

In the release, the state wrote that information provided to the hotline “will be forwarded to local health department officials in the jurisdiction of the location or situation described in the call” and that the appropriate enforcement authority will be mobilized, if necessary.

The release did not address executive orders authored by municipal leaders that are more restrictive than Hogan’s, such as the one that went into effect in Baltimore City, which restricted indoor dining to 25% capacity last week.

In an email, Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley wrote that once the calls are sent to local health officials, they will then act in accordance with that jurisdiction’s standing executive orders and decide appropriate action from there.

The release reads that any individual found violating Gov. Hogan’s order “could be charged with a violation of that order, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail, a $5,000 fine, or both.”

Mask wearing

Why should Federal, State or Local governments have to tell grown adults to wear a mask? There’s a deadly virus in this Country. I’m old enough to remember when I would get in my car to go grocery shopping, shop at retail stores, eat in a restaurant , go to one of the Squares, Katie Belles for a dinner show and the movies and not worry about dying. That has all been taken away. Mask wearing takes your “freedom” away? Wow what freedom do we have now? I think it’s pathetic that people would not do a simple thing to help their fellow Americans. We can continue like this and for the rest of OUR lives not go back to the way it used to be. It’s truly amazing how grown adults act like babies. :mad
Keep listening to your Supreme Leader.

If I owned a 3000 acre farm in wherever...I would need to wear a mask outside because.............. No national mandate!
