Very interesting. The new Pope said this last year........before he was pope.

My mother always spoke of her childhood priests (Greek Catholic/Eastern rite/Byzantine) who did marry.
I believe if they wished to marry, they could choose to do so before their final vows.........and still become priests.
Some did not marry, but many Ukrainian priests did take a wife and have children.
