I would bet that the cashiers, customer service desk people, deli & bakery people would not be sanitizing and restocking the shelves. Nor would most be capable or possibly want to be doing those things. Just my thoughts from seeing who stocks and cleans most stores.

This is happening here in Texas as well with our grocery stores (both local and Walmarts)….as I understand it, it is so they can do a HEAVY restock and decontamination of the store so that they don't run out of what their customers need AND ensure they are not making matter worse not being able to do a deep clean. I personally believe this is to benefit their clients....glad to hear our new home (as of May) is on the same page...ensure it is cleaned very well, stocked totally, and then let the crazies in to "swarm like locus again." Their intent is NOT to cut hours for workers. :ohdear:

Negative comment. The employees are working the same hours. They will be doing additional cleaning and restocking.

Not much left to do but go shopping.

Store shelves will be easy to sanitize, their empty..Good corporate decision cuts down on labor cost

Wal-Mart, Amazon, InstaCart, Target. Almost every store has on-line shopping, most with free delivery. More fun than braving the stores with the possibility of the virus out there. More fun too...such a wide choice of merch!

They will post higher sales than Christmas

Publix is rated the top supermarket chain for employees ... all in. So I would not judge the market's shorter hours based on any assumption that is contrary to known facts.

:boxing2: Not negative about the companies or the employees, they are on the front lines and put up with a hysterical and illogical public. Yes it is negative towards panic and irrational people that have no reason to swarm like locust in a feeding frenzy. The fact of the matter is there will be less hours and number of employees needed. They are not going to wipe off every can, jar, bag of frozen veggies, yogurt container or bottle of wine. This means basic wipe down, mopping and stocking. Hoping that all companies all look towards providing equitable hours and pay to employees. News is beginning to show companies that are helping employees affected. That is a good on ya!
