We want our doctors to provide the safest most effective medications for each individual patient. We want our citizens to be productively employed. And then when a doctor and a patient find a medication that works and is legal in the state, the corporation with the consent of the courts fires him even though all sides agree that his medication did NOT impair him in any way. If you are outraged at an employer being able to fire you for using Prozac or Lyrica or Ambien then why should not that same outrage apply to legal use of marijuana?

It cannot be left to the courts because the courts simply apply the law unless the law is vague or unconstitutional. Change needs to come from the legislature rewriting the laws or the people amending the state constitution.
Brandon Coats' Case Could Change Everything

We need rational drug laws and this is yet another example of anti-drug madness.

You know Blueash I was also skeptical of your post, because it sounded like that bs post from before. But it is actually a real human interest story. I hope it works out well for Brandon Coats. If one had a loved one who was paralyzed in a car accident and suffered violent muscle spasms that were only alleviated by medical marijuana one would not be casting judgement. An interesting case to see how it unfolds.

ANYONE would agree with that. It is that isolated examples are brought up and make me very skeptical. If that is so, do not make it "over the counter" make it prescribed.

Next?

Prescribed for sure, and not an easy prescription to get.

The only part that you left out was that the medication was weed. The lower courts have ruled correctly with respect to the law. If the higher courts should rule differently, they are simply being activists and rewriting the law.

I have a friend who has terminal cancer. He was losing weight very fast and would not eat enough because of no appetite from the medications. He smokes marijuana to increase his appetite and he has put on 40 pounds and looks healthy. I think it will extend his life instead of wasting away to nothing but skin and bones. I am happy he has the option of marijuana.
